Is it bad to post a photo of like, a totally non sexual body part if people ask?

I just am curious... i used to have a link to my photos in my profile, and then one day, i was posting ont he GTA board and people suddenly started asking all about my feet, what size they are, do i paint my nails, ect. it was a little strange but not exactly creepy either. anyway, i kept getting a million requests and eventually took a few photos and posted them on my flickr. it seemed like not a big deal to me anyway, since event hough i guess they really wanted to see them, its like, not exactly a part of my body thats that private, i mean, i could walk down the street in sandals and you'd be able to see everything from the pics. to me they're just my feet so it seemed like it wasnt a big thing to post some photos. anyway, a friend of mine a few days ago came accross my flickr, and she and i are almost no longer friends now. she siad what i did was "disgusting" and that i was doing a "sexual favor" for people by posting them.. i said (and i think im right) that she is nuts, and that i did no such thing since its nothing that private ect, but she says because they like looking at them, that makes me a gross person for agreeing to post.

anyway... this has almost ended our friendship. i have no idea why its such a big deal to her.. but im basically just wondering if im right or wrong. again.. i seriously dont get why its a big deal, but maybe im clueless.

PS this is a serious post and a serious question, and ive gotten flamed enough over this by a friend, not just random internet people. so unless you have a real opinion for me, just save the insults for someone else

well first of all she shouldnt be judging you for something of such little significance.

second, why would your friendship be torn apart by a pic, even if it was something private? its not that she cares for you, if that was the case she would try to support you and ask you to take the pic down. it seems like she doesnt want to be associated with you judging by the way she acts.

I was in a hot tub with some friends, and this girl kept kicking me, so I jokinglytold her I had a foot fetish to get her to stop. It was super effective. It took a long time for people to stop bothering me about that.

Your friend probably freaked out because she is worried about you as boring as that sounds - all these feet fetish weirdos may come and take you away in the night. But that doesn't mean that you were 'wrong' to post those pics for purely innocent reasons. Just reassure your friend that you would never acually knowingly indulge fetish weirdos and that you value the fact that she cares for you so much. Well, I know it must be at least partly that its that she cares about me, its just that it sucks when a friend suddenly turns so judgemental. I mean, i know that there are guys with a foot fetish out there, but personally anywya, it doesnt seem like that big a deal ( i mean, again, to me anyway its not like i was showing off anything that someone who saw me walking down the street in the summer couldnt see anyway). i mean, there are guys who are into a lot weirder stuff, and i guess the attention was kind of flattering too. Even though this is an entirely manufactured scenario for attention and you are almost surely some guy, if it was real, the guy was asking for the pics for sexual purposes, so, it was a sexual favour.

I should think it likely that she used the term 'disgusting' more in context of the situation rather than the fact it was your feet. She can probably imagine a worst case scenario of some big old hairy man getting all excited over your feet pictures (to which I too say bleergh). If you are the type of girl who likes posting pic of yourself - and mostly for the attention it gets you - it can do no harm to be careful because attention can become unwanted and awkward. You should be able to engage with people on forums etc without having to post pics of any part of yourself to keep people interested. I know it seems more but it's just a stupid fight, tell her you understand her side and move on. If she's firm on the subject she probably won't feel the need to apologise. Tis over now.
