I would say in the "Kill one, save x" scenarios. As long as x is greater than or equal to two, you're good to go!

Is it morally OK? No, is it legally OK? No, but I believe that there are some people that truly just don't deserve to live...While it may not be morally OK or legally OK to kill these people (Serial killers, serial rapists, drug thugs) I personally would have no problem if someone were to kill them.

The only justifiable way to take a life is if you're saving a life. IMO.

Sure is. Just look at war. The aggressor never acts in self defense.

Yeah, I think it's alright. You might even be saving another persons life by ending theirs instead of running.

yes

i think if someone hurt or killed a family member, or if a friend called on me in a time of need for some sort of help, then I maybe would kill someone. It'd have to be a damn good reason, mind you.

If they purposefully hurt or killed a member of my family or friend, then I could probably stretch my morals a little bit.

If you're asking me if I would kill to protect my property, then my answer is no, not intentionally, anyway. Would I shoot someone in the knee and slap them in the face a few times while they writhe on the ground in agony for stealing my stuff? Absolutely.

Morals are relative my friend. Just because society frowns upon something, it does not make it wrong.

Not saying I'm advocating it in any way. It's counterproductive to most societies anyway. The only time I can see society finding it necessary is in the case of overpopulation, and there's other options for that.

yea, as much as I'd want to, I dont think I could ever kill someone (intentionally, as you said) over valuables. Slug them with a bat or something, sure, but not shoot/stab them

A thief's/burglar's life may not be worth much, but its definately worth more than my car, a watch, some gold rings, etc.

Sure it is, there are various hypothetical scenarios where it would be somewhat o.k to off someone. Moral is not a golden standard, it is dynamic - and for the most - facetted with hypocrisy

it really all depends, you really never know.

some of you could say yes you would, but when the time comes you decide you couldn't

some of you could say no, but faced with a very extreme case of protecting a loved one you wouldn't think twice.

i THINK i could if i had to save a random person. if it were to save someone i loved, then i'm pretty sure i could, but who knows, honestly.

I guess that marines are immoral if they snipe a terrorist 2 miles away. I think that is the only way, is if they are a threat that will/has harmed people then a pre-emptive strike is OK

If I was defending me or someone I loved such as a family or friend, I wouldn't hesitate to kill.

If somebody needed to die for the benefit of society, yep, I see that as OK.

If somebody tried to rape me, I'd kill them. Even though they are not threatening my life, as far as I'm concerned, they deserve to die.

Yes it is moral to kill someone when it is not in self defence, but only when someone elses life is in extreme danger by the actions of another person.

In all other circumstances no.

If there is still an opportunity to put people to sleep or tie them up instead of killing, i don't think killing them is ok. If You don't get that option, it's morally okish, but not right.

Only if one believes moral relativism to be a universal truth.......as a philosophy it, too, has it's detractors.

And yes....murder is wrong unless sparing a life.

Alright, how can you "defend" yourself, when you kill somebody. The all sense ofthe word should be "to teach them not to mess with you". You may injure the attacker, but to kill him... The police won't tolerate it, I think, unless he's a real criminal :D

I believe the term I would use for that is protection and I've only known police and soldiers to fire at people planning to/are already firing back. If lives aren't threatened, it's murder. To answer the TC's question directly, no, I will not kill somebody if my life isn't threatened. No, it is not moral to kill somebody if another life isn't at risk.

Right and wrong behaviour is a human invention and entirely up to the person judging you. Killing somebody and not killing somebody doesn't make you good or bad it just makes you think you've done good or bad and other people think you've done good or bad, thus killing somebody out of self defense is no different then killing somebody because you wan't to or because you hate them it's just a way of saying you were attacked first and because your life was in danger you had the right to end somebody else's life because of there actions towards you.

In the society we live in it is wrong to kill somebody for no reason, so if you live by that then killing somebody when it's not in self defense is wrong however i believe some people deserve to die because of the way they act or treat others.

Sure if the other people's well being is at stake i.e. murders and rapists.
