I've done it, and I've never had much difficulty, but I do believe it is hard. I'm black, so there's always the thought of them saying something offensive about blacks that strikes me lol.

depends on the person personality and attitude. I don't have many friends of other ethnicity but I do talk to them about music I like rock and w/e but I talk to the about underground stuff :P
No, if a person has something in common with you it's easy to be friends with them. But a lot of my friends do have negative feelings about blacks in general, which doesn't make me angry, but just confused.
no, from day one it was never uncomfortable. Another reason why I like living in nyc is that you run into and meet a lot of different people from all over and sometimes later become friends.
i wouldnt say its hard but at time you get those awkward moment. during school my best friend (being an asian guy) hangs with his asian girlfriend and her asian friends and i definitely feel kinda weird when around them (me being black). and sometime when hanging with a group of nonblack people you get those black joke that arent really intended to be racist but to be funny. i dont take offense to them and laugh just to seem like im cool with it but really its makes ya kinda feel uncomfortable.
Nah, my ex was Asian, I always teased her about being Asian with the hand-over-mouth laugh and such. I have a bunch of black friends also, they're cool.
No, but I just plain don't like people most of the time. If I say anything they find offensive I really don't care since I know I don't hate people based on their ethnic background.

Wow I was in a situation just like that on Friday.... I went to Wing Stop with my friend (asian, viet to be exact), his girlfriend(also asian), and his girlfriends friends(all asian). I was just siting and I felt awkward because I didn't really have anything in common with them. But none of them make race jokes a lot.
Nope. One of my best friends is Mexican, then another of one of my best friends is also half mexican, but he came out white haha. His dad's full blown Mexican, but His mom's genes prevailed. And a black person back in elementary school was the probably best friend I ever had. Unfortunately he moved away and we never really contacted each other after that. But I don't think that it's hard at all.
I totally disagree. I live in a country where the local population is far less than foreigners (UAE). I have many best friends from all over the world and we get along great. In fact, I have very few 'best' friends from my own country/race
No. I'm a white guy from the south and didn't even really know many people of other races when I was younger, but since I've left my parents house, only about 1/4th of my friends are white.
I'm mixed hispanic/italian/irish. I'm kinda pale though, so sometimes if I'm around some people they might make a joke about hispanics or something not knowing that I'm part hispanic, that's the only time it's ever been awkward for me. Otherwise, no, it's not hard at all being friends with people of different races. I have tons of blacks and white friends. Someone's race has no bearing on me being friends with me.
Not at all. One of my best friends in high school was black and we both made fun of each other all the time. I'd make him listen to country music while he joked about how I was secretly in the KKK. o.0 I must say, his reaction was quite funny that day I drove him past his house one day after school... :P
(also, I was in the minority in high school if that means anything...)
Yah, some of my best friends are mexican, a few black friends, and a few asian friends. I've always grown up with my friends being from different races.
I've never had a problem with it, and we always joke around about it too with offensive jokes, but we dont care. I remember back in 6th grade, there was like, atleast 1 member from each type of race in my group of friends...
I find it easier to befriend a latino person, probably because I'm more confortable around them. Otherwise, I am able to have a different variety of friends.
Nope, I went to an all white school with only about 30 black people out of a school of 2000 students. Its not hard at all but after being on xbox live since halo 2, I always wonder who were my true friends and who were the ones that said negative words toward your race behind your back. Its kinda weird to have people be nice in front of your face, but here all that racist talk on xbox live, It just makes me wonder.
Nah I don't think so :) Most of my friends are very relaxed people with a dry sense of humour. I call my indian friend a terroist all the time haha. I also call him "two-race" because he's half-indian and he finds it hilarious :D
