Is it normal for a doctor to shop at goodwill? Just wondering because our family does. And this one girl called me "selfish" because I told her where I got my shirt.
By shopping at Goodwill you're contributing money that goes towards empowering others. How is that selfish?
I don't really know but it might be that she thought I was selfish because I could of saved those clothes for less fortunate people?
Probably, and she is entirely missing the point of the Goodwill. The purpose of Goodwill isn't to provide cheap items for people with no money. They are thrift stores yes, but it's the thrift that brings people in. They operate with the purpose of generating income. This income is then used to fund support and empowerment programs for those in need. There's also the fact that in the stores themselves they typically employ those who face challenges in being employed elsewhere.
Doctors make a bit of money, but have huge student loans to pay off. If I was a doctor I'd be eating ramen and buying from salvation army for at least a decade so I could pay off my loans. Maybe not normal, but certainly a smart thing to do.
