Is it ok to hit women?

I was thinking about this the other day. I came to the conclusion that in some cases, its definitely okay to hit women.

Heres a few situations where I think its ok:

if she had a knife and I felt like she was going to actually use it, I would punch her in the face as hard as I absolutely could. I can hit pretty hard and quick so if my life in in jeopardy I dont doubt for a second that she would be out.

If she was going to kick me in the balls, its on.

If I see her abusing someone or something (animal) that cannot defend its self.

I dont think for a second that women are equally strong as men, in the general sense. So I do think its wise to not really hit women, but in some cases its necessary. There are situations where if a woman hits me I would simply use other means, maybe ill throw her down or just shrug it off. But I dont think letting women off the hook entirely is a good option. That being said, im clearly not a pacifist.

I chose the first option just to be an ass.

if they try to beat the crap out of you than yeah. At that point it's self defense.

I think if you are man enough to hit a man you are man enough to get hit back.

Well I would just restrain the women or gently strike her to make her fall unconscious, but I could never hit a woman with full strength regardless of the situation because the full power hit could easily kill a man and would undoubtly kill the woman.

I think the title is a little ambiguous. Of course if someone is threatening your life, you're going to hit them.. But from the title I assumed you meant if she disobeys her husband or something along those lines.Afrojitsu

I would just wrap a woman up and restrain her if I felt she was endangering me. I wouldn't actually throw haymakers or anything. :o

If I'm having to defend myself from serious injury or death, I don't think about what's between your legs, only how the hell I can get out of that situation without being hurt or killed.

We are equal. I would hit a women in a situation that I would hit a man in... but that nearly is never. I very rarely get angry or aggressive don't even hit people in self defense ... I throw things at them which technically isn't hitting them ;) .

That's an interesting point, but I think the idea of hitting women is perhaps not cowardly, but abusive. That's a more appropriate word.

Self-defense. Of course the likelihood of having to fight a chick is less than fighting a dude, and the amount of force necessary is lower to subdue the average female is slightly less than the typical male, but the same rules apply.
