My cat's 5 years old. When he was like 6 months old we took him from my uncle's farm and he hasn't interacted with any other cats since. Occassionally a cat would walk past our house and he'd get all excited. Today one was right by our patio door and my cat really wanted to go outside and play with it or kill it or whatever cats do.

It's kind of sad, should I have a little kitty playdate or what?

No, it isn't okay for him to not have friends.

Honestly, my dog is almost three years old and he has no "dog friends", I don't think its sad.

Poor cat, let him interact with others, let him free and you would feel really satisfied. Helping an animal is always good.

My lazy cat had a cat friend, the other cat ran away, my cat was too boring I guess.

Same with my cat, and it's no big deal. It's normal for house cats to "not have friends."

I think... :P

I've had my cat for 9 years, she was only around other cats for the first 2 or 3 years and hasn't been around any others since then.

You should let it interact with other cats. Right now it's probably depressed and confused about it's identity and keeping it from others will only these things worse for it. Soon it's going to start hitting up the catnip pretty hard to try and ease the pain of being alone (if it hasn't already).

I wouldnt know though, since I always have more than 1 of a type of pet.

4 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 2 fish.

My cat hates any cat that even comes near our house (she's an indoor cat). She'll go absolutely crazy if she ever sees one.

Yeah it's abnormal.

I think you should just go and have it put to sleep.

It sounds depressed and may attempt kitty suicide. So just do what it wants for it!

My family's first cat (which we have had for ten years) is an indoor cat, and when we got another one, they started fighting with each other periodically. Mostly the second cat's fault, but I'd say the first one is antisocial.

For whoever asked, he's an indoor cat but I take him outside for maybe 20 minutes every day or so, I guess he's psycologically normal because he goes outside and chases rabbits, kills mice etc. i just thought he would get lonely for other cats

He should just tell the cat that it's better off they remain just friends.

Cat's are solidary animals(such as tigers and leopards), so it's probably alright for them to be alone.

It's probably not a good idea to introduce him or she to another cat because they will probably not get along.

The only way you can get a cat to get along with a cat is if they are raised together when they are kittens.

That might push it over the edge and he'll come home to shredded furniture and boozed up cat trying to off itself on it's worm meds.

unlike dogs, cats are not pack animals, they dont require others for social interaction, its perfectly fine for a cat to have no 'friends'

cats are solitary animals right, my cat doesnt get along with other cats, but it's fine just sitting in the backyard chasing squirrels and birds and watching cats and raccoons but if either get near her she'll attack.

wow so cruel just inclose your cat from the outside world... how would you like to be locked up in your house with no communication to any humans but only to a cat?!

lol I'm really not as serious as I made that sound.

yeah my cat is not familiar with much else besides our house and backyard (too fat to be an explorer) and one time i took it out and cars were going by and she never seen them or heard them so she probably thought they were living beings who were out to kill. she pissed herself. she's happy enough inside or in our backyard, thats about it tho.

Housecats aren't pack animals. They're not supposed to have friends, and most of them don't WANT friends.

Darn it! You got to it before me. Cats get excited when they see other cats generally because they want to eat them. ;)

my cat has no friends...infact, she would get in a fight right away if some cat came into her territory...the cat from accross the street is her enemy...I think my cat could kick his ass...not sure for how much longer though...his owners told me he was about 6 or so....so hes a lot younger than my cat

I just let my cat wander around wherever he wants. He can find friends if he wants to.
