Is it possible for a human to 1 v 1 a bear?

pretend you were teleported from your computer into a room with no windows or doors and an angry bear infront of you. Is it automatically game over? is it impossible or is it possible to fight smart, back up, wait for bear to charge, strong kick to jaw, jump on back, gouge eyes, rear naked choke.

Anythingis possible, but my money is on the bear if it's mano y mano.

Well based on that picture the guy is doomed. Since even if he manages to take out the bear with that epic uppercut he's using, there's another bear creeping in the background watching the whole spectacle that will surely be out for blood if he kills its kindred bear.

No way. You'd have to be suicidal to get close enough to kick one in the head - one swipe of its claws and your quadriceps would be ripped off your leg and dangling in the breeze. When something that weighs 500 - 1,000 lbs lunges at you...you're just dinner plain and simple.

I remembered seeing this photo of a plaque about a guy who killed a bear one on one. The bear got his arm, so he used that arm that was already halfway down its throat to grab it's jugular or something and choke it until it was unconscious, then bashed it with a stick until he was sure it was dead.

its possible yes, but highly unlikely, you would need a trained proffessional who either was extremely agile and able to mount the bear or someone who was incredibly strong who was able to forcefully take down the bear, someone like a sumo wrestler or a powerlifter
