Why would you gain fat when you exercise? Fat is how energy is stored, the more you exercise the more energy you use, thus the more fat you lose.

You don't gain fat from anything but foods. Working out gets rid of fat.

Im not an expert but i think you have to because when you gain more muscle you need more room to store it so your body make more fat(room) in your arms and other places you work.

It's because you exercise without eating the right stuff. Or if you eat the right stuff without exersizing. You should have payed a bit more attention in science.

Umm ok, cause i usually only eat 1 meal a day, so maybe I should eat more healthy stuff? So eating 1 meal a day and working out will make you gain weight? I've been eating only 1 meal a day for a while now, I usually don't like eating more than that.

Like others have said, if you eat a lot of fatty food then yes, you will gain fat. If you are only doing resistance training then you will burn calories but not fat calories. This is why cardio is still important when one is trying to gain muscle mass/strength.

Usually when someone is big into resistance training, their caloric intake will increase. This will cause an increase in fat intake even if they are eating a low fat diet (you can't completely exclude fat from your diet). So if they don't do cardio to burn the fat then they will see an increase in fat coupled with their increase in muscle mass. I think this is where you got confused.

I work out everyday and for a while i was wondering why i wasnt gaining any muscle, first you need to eat right, second manage your exercise. 1 hour a day for lifting waits, half hour for cardio etc. But dont eat fast food or chips, pop, you should already know that. And in a couple of weeks you'll notice a change, you can even gain up to 10lb's on your weight machine, or your bench press.

Its really hard, like incredibly hard since you have to still totally watch what you eat, but now instead of just counting calories, you have to start looking for foods that are low-cal AND HAVE VITAMINS AS WELL AS PROTEIN! Plus you have to constantly work out to keep toned. I just stay skinny and thats all I have to worry about...I enjoy being small.

Mind telling me what exactly do you eat? Cause I might not be eating enough... I do a 2 mile jog everyday, and right after that work out for an hour (weights, cardio). I only eat one meal a day, and some fruits as snacks sometimes at late at night.

When you exercise your body needs energy, and if you dont eat three meals a day, your body cant produce muscle because it has to take it from your muscle. So listen eat three meals a day, plus a snack, and exercise in the morning then after the days done.

Allright thanks for the advice, I lost 10 pounds within a week but these last couple of days I gained a pound while excercising everyday, so I was wondering why. So I should run 2 miles in the morning, eat 3 healthy meals a day, and lift weights when the day is done?

Yes, dont worry if you gain a pound, you can just loose it in a day. If you gain 5 or more you should re-think what your doing.

Ok, first off, losing 10 pounds in one week is a lot. The problem with worrying about your weight is that it varies not only on fat content but also your muscle mass. Muscle weights more than fat. You say you are doing weights as well and find you have gained some weight. Well, you have put on some muscle mass more than likely, depending on how long you have been working out. It is hard to tell sometimes when just dealing with a scale because you might not know if you have put on weight due to fat increases or muscle mass increases. A body fat composition test is helpful but this is not something you can just do on your own or without someone who knows what they are doing.

Also on a note about the meals, eating more frequent meals will help boost your metabolism which in turn will help you burn more fat. However, the more meals you eat, the less food you should be eating in each of them.

People think that with muscle comes fat because they experience a drastic weight gain. But this is only because muscle weighs twice as much as fat. Hope that helps. I've put on 15 pounds of muscle, and haven't gained any fat.
