Everytime I see a glock in a movie or a show, I always have to point it out to my friends and they look at me weird. Is it seriously that weird to like guns when you don't have a career that uses it?50shot
Its just a hobbie. Or in my case a job :D
I love guns even though i don't need to use one in my line of work. But there are people in my work that HAVE to carry guns.
I can easily recognize a glock or a sig sauer or a Beretta

LOL. I've heard about it, but unfortunately for them I don't like it in that way, sorry.:P
Well, there's not really any denying that guns are sexual. They're violent at the very least, and therefore sexual for that, not to mention that conceptually they're very similar to the phallus. People definitely associate the two. What that means is more open to debate, but it seems clear to me that the psychological connection exists.[QUOTE="Frattracide"][QUOTE="50shot"][QUOTE="Frattracide"][QUOTE="50shot"]Everytime I see a glock in a movie or a show, I always have to point it out to my friends and they look at me weird. I don't associate guns with wangs either.
I think guns can look cool... But, in real life, killing people =/= cool.
Though... It'd be cool to shoot in a firing range.....
IcyToasters
No. It's not about coolness. It's some kind of other thing that pulls you into it... just like with cars, women and computers. atleast for me.

The whole idea that men who like guns/fast cars/boats/whatever are trying to compensate is largely a myth. The same thing goes with men equating sex and violence. Both ideas are a bad side effect of the feminist movement.

Back home. I don't have a way to safely store them here.
People clearly associate guns with penises. That we're even having this discussion proves it. And it was Freud who really first proposed these various ideas about sexuality, which then helped to inspire femininism. The whole idea that men who like guns/fast cars/boats/whatever are trying to compensate is largely a myth. na if you like guns then ur probably gonna turn out as a criminal or cop YoungGun13
Already am dude and i've still never fired a gun in my life.

You know... you should think independently instead of reciting the words of your parents.
... I like dealing with cops, but sure as hell don't want to be one, because I know I can get a better job :P Plus, I kind of lost faith in our justice system over the past years, so don't really want to be a part of it.
And criminal you say? I guess if your mental health is poor and can't really think rationally. So I guess I won't become either of those two.

Freud was largely discredited on a lot of his theories. The only reason people associate these thing is because they were told too.
I'll use myself as an example. I have no "issues" about the size of my "member" but still like firearms. Shooting a weapon doesn't make me feel "More like a man."

Maybe, but using yourself as an example of how human psychology works is not an effect method of arguing because people usually cannot really pick apart their own thought processes and prejudices very well, and you may be abnormal.[QUOTE="Frattracide"][QUOTE="quiglythegreat"][QUOTE="Frattracide"]People clearly associate guns with penises. Its an urban legend. People are drawn to these things for different reasons. I LOVE the science and mechanics behind firearms, I could talk about ballistics 'till I am blue in the face. Some people like the history, some people like the politics behind them.

Some of Freud's ideas are in question to day on the basis that there is no real way to prove or disprove them. That said, I totally agree with the idea of many men feeling insecure about their masculinity and buying guns to compensate for it.[QUOTE="Frattracide"][QUOTE="quiglythegreat"][QUOTE="Frattracide"]People clearly associate guns with penises. The first thing I did when I laid my fingers on a handgun, I tried to take it apart to look at the insides, instead of going to a shooting range, lmao. My friend looked at me weird after I asked him if he could take it apart.
The issue is not penis size (necessarily) in relation to gun ownership. It's insecurity in relation to gun ownership.Well I can't find one credible source that notes a correlation between Gun ownership and penis size. Its an urban legend. EboyLOL
No, that's the myth "people own weapons because of their need to compensate"
Never. I like looking at guns.
Look at how many people play shooting games? They all probably like guns.
And I personally have never ever holded a gun in my hands. Havent really seen someone using it either.
Most of you folks who live over in the US or Canada must find it very normal if you see one in real-life?
I've seen this documentary about USA and Guns in TV just a couple of days ago.
Documentary was called ''Bowling For Columbine''. Was pretty interesting.
