Is it wrong to hit women? (Ever?)

Say, under any circumstances. Some guys around here seem to think hitting a women for ANY reason, no matter how justifiable, is wrong.

A few weeks ago two girls around my age (16-17) robbed an 85yr lady that lives in the house behind mine. Those two chicks would've walked right past my house, and if I had caught them, I wouldn't have hesitate to hit them IF necessary.

Opinions?

You don't have to hit them to stop them. There's a difference between restraining someone and hitting someone.

ok, im not sure if this is gonna sound kinda sexist but i think that if females want all the rights and respects that they are fighting for (or have already won) they should really shrug off the belief that they are weak and defenseless. my cousin is a pretty tough girl and she can stand up for herself and stuff.

now, you shouldnt hit anybody regardless of sex or age just because of an arguement or cause they "deserve" it. but i think that the beliefe that you should never hit women is kinda sexist as well. i agree you shouldnt be hitting women, but then again, you really shouldnt be hitting anybody. unless for self defense.

and plus, im just a little ticked off that men can be drafted into war but women hve the choice to volunteer (or am i wrong :( (ok, im sure this isnt sexist, this is more jealousy :P )

If a dude talks trash about "yo mama", then it's just as wrong to hit him as if a woman said it. And if a man embarasses you in public, it's just as wrong to hit him as if a woman embarassed you. However, if a woman REALLY needs to be hit, that's no more wrong than hitting a man who REALLY needs to be hit.

The thing is, there are usually VERY FEW legitimate reasons to hit ANYONE, be they a man or a woman. But the decision on whether or not a person needs to be hit should ALWAYS boil down to whether or not they pose a threat to your life/health/safety. Thewir sex is 100% irrelevant. If a cute little 15 year old girl breaks into my bedroom while I'm sleeping, I'm going to assume that she has a gun, and I'll bash her 15 year old head in with a baseball bat.

Did you read my post or what? BIG chick, probably bigger than me (i'm 5'11" and around 75kg), if I caught one (the big on that is), I'd have to knock her unconscious to keep her under control.

If you do it with an open hand and it doesn't leave any marks, I think it's okay. Sean Conery does it, as do the islams across the block from my house. I see no problem with slapping a woman if she cheats on your, steals your money, or won't shut the hell up about something.

I agree with this statement. It's never right to physically abuse anyone. It's alright to hit them if the circumstances dictate it. With the TC's case, I would have socked them and then stood over their unconcious forms until the police arrived. That way if one of them started to wake up, I could knock her out again.

Actually I just think its wrong to beat up on anyone who is physically weaker then you man or woman If I see a lady who I think will kick my arse then I will go all out and finish it as quick as possible. If its a man who is shorter, slower, or skinner then me then I will just push them off and walk away.

I think its ok if you hit a girl or boy playfully though.

I'm very un-confrontational. These situations are perpetuated and led into potential-violence because people at my school are often very aggressive.

Today I walked into one of my classes. But while I was doing so some guy was standing in the doorway and I butted shoulders with him while I walked in. He just looks at me and says "WTF ****!" (like runt with a c), I just look at him and laugh. See what happens?

We have to acknowledge that there are certain biological differences between men and women.Aggression has always been a big part of male behaviour so it just makes sense for two guys to fight over something that a guy and a girl would not.
