Is liking the same sex being shallow?

Before I start this thread I AM NOT HERE TO OFFEND HOMOSEXUALS(seeing that I am one why would I want to scare away you gentlemen? :P)

Is being a homosexual being shallow since you prefer the other sex over the other? iv'e been aruguing with my parents about this since well they don't beilive in me when I say I am one, and they just call me shallow. >_>

How in the hell can the same thing be applied to the gender? You're either attracted to a certain gender or you're not..

TC I recommend you just ignore your parents if they are going to try and speak to you on such a serious subject like that.

No, I'm not selfish for my uncontrollable attraction towards something, nor are you. Personal preference is not selfish, it's just who you are; how your brain works based on numerous factors. :/

I can't really put together in words just why this is the most ludicrous argument against a differing sexuality than heterosexuality since "it's a mental illness" so I'll just go rock back and forth in a corner until I can accept the idiocy of humanity again.

That makes everyone shallow then heterosexuals perfer one sex over the other just as homosexuals do, so we are all "shallow" in that sense... except bi I suppose :P

That makes no sense...so what they are saying it if you like one sex then you are shallow towards the other? That would make heterosexuals shallow as well.
