It's one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in the world. Everywhere you walk you are surrounded by some of the oldest and most magnificent buildings on earth. It's ridiculous to be walking along a random street in London and see a head stone on a building which reads 1765. In terms of things to do, it's also one of the most constantly lively and interesting cities I've ever been in, on a par with NYC. London is probably my favourite city, close second being new york and dubai the third. Chicago is a great town too.Ninja-Hippo:lol: muricans
really cool city filled with really terrible people. Â They're not that bad, maybe I just don't "get" Londoners, but they all seem to be a bunch of smartasses.
But overall I highly recommend going to London it is a great city, tons of stuff to do.
But, since you're there, you might as well just hop on the Chunnel and go to Paris.
what does this thread have to do with the US? why do non-americans have to bring america into everything?Much better than any US city.

Way too many Police cars. Makes it seem like a regime.

yeah, that was the only thing that really bugged me.  That, and the blatant pat downs and open profiling.  I watched the film Children of Men shortly before my trip there, and I could definitely see England going that route if things got bad lol
 muricans There are dozens of buildings in central London over 500 years old. :|[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"]It's one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in the world. I still don't understand what is so funny, though.
If you come from a country that is less than 250 years old (or, more often, states that are even younger), it is quite impressive to see buildings older than your country :)  At least, I thought it was kind of neat :? Maybe I am just easily entertained :P
America has a lot of history, but it lacks a lot of old history.  England has thousands of years of civilized history, and it is nice to visit and see that stuff.  Its like, the oldest building in my town is barely over 100 years old, and maybe the mayor lived in it or something so its been taken care of...but in some random European town, the oldest building might be 300 years old, and a famous scientist or composer or religious figure lived there lol.
london hardly has a skyline.

The reason why London does not have skyscrapers is becuase it is sitting on a massive clay bed. Fine for digging deep underground railway networks, The Tube, but no good for very tall buildings.
There are some tall buildings here in London, but I don't think of them as skyscrapers. For London's tallest buildings, you'll have to go over to Canary Wharf on the Docklands Light Railway.
One other reason is that unlike most other cities, London has viewing rights. For example; the view between Richmond Hill in Surrey and the Houses of Parliament cannot be blocked by any tall building or structure.Â
Too many eastern Europeans.Englandfc1966this, same as Paris, it's like a buffet for Polish and Romanian pickpockets and thieves, i live all the way down in the South West of the UK and they're still everywhere you go.

Actually the shard in southwark is London's tallest building not canary wharf. The shard is the tallest building in western Europe

Haha funny thing is I'm a Romanian and lived 1 month in Thistle Piccadilly, the hotel main entrance was locked because of all the drunk Brits roaming the streets and I had to show my access card so that they would let me in. Most thieves and pickpockets are gypsies, not all Romanians are like them.[QUOTE="Englandfc1966"]Too many eastern Europeans.marklarmer
