Open discussion. Do you think love (like for a wife/girlfriend husband/boyfriend or a friend, or family member) is absolute forever and does it last only for a little while and eventually changes or dies off?

I think if it's true love, it will last forever.

Well that's what I'm asking. Is there really a true love or is it just a relative term?

Well. Going from what I said. I believe there is such a thing.

Love is lasting. Lust is not.

My parents would have had their 41st anniversary on May 6th this year if mom hadn't passed-away in November.

Edit:  Couples living together without being married probably aren't truly in love.

Love lasts as long as the parties involved invest patience, compassion and compromise into it.

Absolutely relative. It isn't some eternal feeling, it is based completely on the person and relationships people share. Some people think they are truly in love, and are together forever and for them it is everlasting...then there are those who think they are truly in love (and there is nothing to prove they aren't) and then something occurs and that love disappears.

There is true love in this world but it is not always the easiest thing to find. I find that sometimes you have to go through a few false loves before finding the one true love.

I am hopelessly in love with my niece. I don't think I could ever stop loving her. At the same time I thought I was in love with a comic book character before, but now I have no feelings for her. I only mean to say that love can be both long-lasting("forever") and temporary.

That sounds like infatuation, not love.

i think this sums up my views on the subject

love can't be unconditional, imo. maybe an exception is warranted in the case of certain blood relations, but there will always be extreme cases to support the contrary

Romantic love is never forever, and the idea that it should be is damaging to society. So many people would be so much happier if they weren't looking for "true love", and were instead ok with seeing what kinds of individual connections develop and evolve.

I wasn't being entirely serious about the comic character (I will always love you, Katchoo!). I just didn't feel like thinking about a serious example. Bad memories.

If there are conditions....it isn't love.
