Obesity is you feeding yourself to death. Kids usually feed themselves. Their fault. Starvation is abuse because it's forcing them. Here, they're probably not even hungry, they just feel like eating. A lot of other things. It's not more child abuse than bulimia is I guess.

I don't really think it is...it's really based on what the child's food demands are and genes/traits.

I would say it is. It is utter negligence on the part of the parents. Children do not know any better, which is exactly what makes them children. They require guidance by their parents.

Of course, if a child on the other hand refused to eat, and parents didn't do anything that would be child abuse as well, in a similar situation.

Isn't it the parents responsibility to teach their children that certain behavior is wrong on their part?

I don't think it's necessarily child abuse, but it is also the parents responsibility to moderate thier child's eating habits and try thier best to regulate the diet and keep the child active and healthy

Yes, but if you notice certain patterns to their behavior, or paticular obvious changes like a large weight gain when they are eating a healthy that a parent should be providing, at that point, a parent should be able to do something.

Folks, obesity is the subject at hand, not a tad bit of chunk on your kid. There is an obvious difference between the two. One is normal, while the other is clearly unhealthy at which point all those extra calories the kid is washing down is nothing more then poison. There are so many serious health risks that have been drawn from child obesity.

Well, with meals for a dollar at fast food restaraunts, 'Middle Class' families take the best thing available to them. In the cases of rich families....I say yes. Obesity leads to many problems. We aren't bears or sloths....we need to be at least close to a 'fit' state of being to be healthy.

I agree with this guy. Parents are responsible for the health of their children and that kid will be lucky to make it to 40. Think of the abuse he must get at school, or at least will be getting.

By the time kids are smart enough to eat for themselves, their parents have already engraved their eating habits.

It's also hard to call it abuse because their are alot of Fat people who say "The more fat = the more beautiful" like Monique. I don't think that, though.

That I agree with. Parents need to be able to put their children in a physical program a few times a week.

Or maybe just purchased healthier foods and make them exercise if they start putting on weight.

I don't think it was quite that extreme but they did like fuller ladies back in the day. Anyway regardless of how people want to spin it there are serious health consequences for being that obese.

I wonder what he would look like if he didn't eat for a weak. Would his blubber keep him alive, then he becomes skinny? I guess I'm mean but it's a mystery.
