Good/bad is a matter of opinion. Watch a trailer, if it seems appealing, go see it, if not, stay home. I think it's a waste not to see any movie that interests you. If it stinks, you lost what..an hour and a half of your life and $10 bucks? Small price to pay for the potential to be entertained and intruiged.
Some love it, others hate it, make up your own mind is what I'm saying.
I didn't like it. But, I went in expecting a rush, like that of those intense movies like The Descent, SAW, 28 Days/Weeks Later, and all of those kind of movies, I get a rush out of watching them.
It's what I expected from Cloverfield, but, it just didn't deliver it. I hated it. I have a blog post about it...
Mixed reviews, if you're just gonna watch it to get answers, then you won't like it...
If you want something different and interesting, and seen as more like... "Blair Witch meets Godzilla" (I hope that's a good way of putting it and not very misleading) and taking the typical Monster movie into a more artistic/different POV way, then yeah, you'll like it.

You know, I liked it a LOT, but it's honestly not the kind of movie that has a lot of replay value.
I mean, the gmmicl=k of the movie makes many of the thrills and surprises more effective. Like, take tat tsunami from a few years back. We first saw footage of that and we were like, "Ho...Lee...****!"
But then once you've seen it once, watching it again fails to be "entertaining".
And I really hate drawing comparisons to the entertainment value derived from home videos of REAL disasters, but I have to given the nature of Cloverfield.Yes, it's a monster movie that is supposed to be entertaining. But like it has the gimmick of trying to be like real disaster footage, just like realdisaster footage, it's not the type of thing that you would want to watch over and over again.
Particularly since they don't show that much minster footage.
Anyway, here's what I say. I definitely think that this is one to watch AT THE MOVIES. Wouldn't be the samer on a TV set. DEFINITELY worth seeing once or twice at your local cinema. After that, forget it. As much as I enjoyed it, I don't see myself ever watching it more tan 3 times in my entire life.
