Almost all the kids in my school bash rap whenever they get the chance. On the other hand I think Eminem is OK, but I just can't listen to the techno crap the kids love! That isn't even music! At least rap has a style of it's own...

Everytime this question is asked, artists like Hurricane Chris and Soulja Boy get record deals. Please. Think of the supersoaked garden tools.

I can understand that people don't like rap, but that question doesn't even make sense.

Your right we have to save music. Lets sighn a petition that forces children to take up an instrument or learn how to rap or sing at a young age its the only way. We also force people from third world countries to uy the albums.

Genre's don't die, they just diminish significantly. Rock is in a pretty bad state right now. It's like artists stopped using Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Nirvana as influences and started trying to sound like 'St. Anger'. As for rap, it is getting progressively harder to find good rap nowadays. Most of the stuff I hear is either a 50 Cent crapfest or "Soulja Boy".

No but it all sounds the same.. It seems now any street-corner freestyler wants to put out a cd. 90's rap was the best: Nas and biggie are the greatest, and always will be. Eminem and Kanye West are up there at the top too.

thank you for mentioning my favorite hip hop group and one of the greatest hip hop groups. sadly they broke up though early this year, but I was lucky enough to get a CD given to me by DJ Nu Mark signed by all the J5 members last year

Rap isn't going to die. When it becomes unpopular it will go back to being the largely underground movement that it started out as. That is where it belongs. Music like that in the spotlight just perverts it and breeds too many lame me-too clones. I could actually stand rap in the early ninetees and before. I've lost the will to try and find any good rap through all of the industrial-grade sludge pumping out of the record company's love pipe.

It's like metal in the 80s. Most people liked it. Then they didn't. Pop fans went on to the next latest thing and metal fans kept on listening to metal. It existed before, during, and after its pop phase. Underground, too.

On that note, I really wish punk would just die. I mean, not just out of popularity, but of music all together. How could such an anti-attitude to musicianship ever last so long? They can't sing, they can't play, and that's the point.

Why do most casual listeners consider Eminem the one good rap artist. There's so much more out there that surpasses him. Music in general is ain a bad state right now. This is due to the digital age of mp3s. Once artists start to figure out how to work around it and not let record companies run the whole industry then it will be in a much better state. More artists should follow the idea of Radiohead.
