I don't understand. Why is he trying to run away with his girlfriend? Are their parents forcing them not to see each other in some bizarre Capulet-Montague like family feud? Either way he probably has no money and will come crawling back within a few weeks so it really doesn't matter what you tell him.

Your friend doesn't really know what he's doing. First of all I'm not sure how much money she has but if they are planning to get a place to live she's going to need 2 months deposit. I don't know if the GF is 18 but if she isn't they won't even be able to sign a legitimate lease because landlords won't enter into contracts with minors. Then you have utility bills, health insurance, food expenses etc. This is only a few of the obstacles they'll face. All of this is null and void anyways unless they plan on getting new identities or whatever since the parents will just be looking for him all the time. The idea is truly horrible and he's just going to come crawling back. The fact that your friend is even considering this should make you sever all ties with him. He's delusional.

He is blinded by love. It may seem like a good idea for him to run away from his parents with the love of his life but lack of a job and cash will crush that dream of his.

Encourage him to do it. And then he'll realize how much of a tool and an idiot he is, it'll teach him a lesson about life and women as well.

Your friend sounds pretty immature. I don't think he fully grasps the reality of what he's considering. He will be caught, and when he is he's going to be in a heap of trouble. Regardless of whether or not his girlfriend is consenting to this, her parents can press all sorts of charges, claiming that even if she did do it of her own free will, he brainwashed her, or if she comes home crying afterwards they can skip all that and just go straight for kidnapping, which is much more likely. They're young and stupid, and no matter what they will be found. As long as they are still alive and need to eat/find shelter/whatever, he'll need to present an I.D. at some point.

1) You cant run away from your problems

2) Running away is a cowards way out

3) You will only kick yourself later

4) You are blinded by love if you claim to do this for a woman

5) You dont know your woman until you actually live with her

6) Bottom Line -Bad Idea. Your mother gave birth to you, and this is how you repay her?

Obviously this is not to the TC, but the TC should say that to his friend :P

Given the circumstances HELL NO.

Young people make me shake my head so much when it comes to "love" and relationships. I mean they think its going to last forever and they found their soul mate when in reality they'll be lucky to last a year.

Tell him don't, but he's going to make his own choices so not much you can entirely do to help. Sooner or later he'll realize the folly of his ways.

This is true. He'll figure it out in a short amount of time that he screwed up and put himself into a horrible position.

Hmmm, a minor running away from home... Without a High School Degree Without any significant amounts of money Without any significant job experience Well, it's pretty clear how this is going to turn out.

He should just stay with his GF against his parent's wishes until he fineshes school then he can leave and get a job so he's not a burden. It seems to me if he really loved his GF he wouldn't want to be a burden to her and would find some way to make it work.

I cannot think this is really a good option. Being a hobo isn't a good decision.

I'm not sure if you're attempting to be sarcastic at MY sarcasm, or if you missed the fact that my post was sarcastic.
