I did. It's a magnificent read, but a few of the later books are fairly dry and boring. Although as a whole package the series is worth serious attention.

I've been recommended those books to read several times. I haven't gotten around to reading them, but like the poster before me, I did hear the last few books are kind of a drag to get through. Anyway, I was more interested in the Sword of Truth series, and those are the books I read instead.

i'm almost thirty and about a year ago afriend of mine told me that the wheel of time series is good. i didn't believe him and thought that i'd be reading harry potter crap. i was wrong and he was right. the wheel of time series is alright. the problem i had is that the first book is so damn good and that the rest only go down hill and become drawn out and dry. i got to about the 4th or 5th book in the series before i gave up. however, i would definately recommend reading at least the first three, which are: eye of the world, the great hunt, and dragon reborn. i liked the eye of the world the best and think it's one of the greatest and creepiest books i've read.

I've read the series a number of times and I think it is very good. It's true though the further along you get the slower and more drawn out the books become. It's also worth noting that the series has some similarities to Lord of the Rings (what fantasy series doesn't?) and the Dune series, both of which are excellent in their own right. At the end of the day I definitely recommend the Wheel of Time but note this: if you plan to read the entire series it wouldn't hurt to take notes on characters and places and events, by the end it can be hard to recall all of the minutiae.

I agree with the others. I have all the books until Winter's Heart (that's the 10th one, right?), and the only thing that kept me going after about the 5th book was my compulsive need to finish a book once I start it, a compulsion that I've only been able to fight off maybe once or twice in my whole 21 years of life.
