I've been debating about whether or not to start reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. The general consensus appears to be that they start off excellent but quickly deteriorate at around the middle, turning into a pile of slop by the tenth book, but it picks up again with Sanderson's volume. Should I give it a go or no?

No, you should go play some BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger or Continuum Shift instead.

Try out the Wheel of Fortune. You could even win big from it!

Wheel of Time is overrated. Drags on, gets boring.

If you want really, really good fantasy go with Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire series. It's not finished yet, and he's taking forever on A Dance With Dragons - but unfinished as it is it is completely awesome and head and shoulders above Wheel of Time.

If you want to read a finished series read Robin Hobb's Elderlings saga (which is the Farseer Trilogy, the LiveShip Trilogy, and the Tawny Man trilogy - in that order.) The most underrated fantasy series of all time, in my opinion just as good as Martin. I might even like it better.

I've also been debating about whether or not I should read them. Its a long series, and I don't want to read a few good books and then get stuck reading a bunch of mediocre ones. Also, since a different author had to take over, wouldn't it seem more like fan-fiction towards the end?

I thought this was some Wheel Of Fortune spin-off (no pun intended).

No one liked it? I will admit that they drag on a bit towards the end, but they are easily my favorite series. I think they are amazing books. I say give it a go!

Bought it off of Amazon last week. :D It kept popping up on my recommendations list and I've seen a lot of praise for it. I'll be reading it as soon as I finish ASOIAF.

Just read it slowly. That, too, is unfinished. :( When you're done with that, read some Steinbeck. No fantasy, but still, awesome.

If you guys are finishing A Song of Ice and Firea nd loved it, get into Robin Hobb's Elderling stuff. Seriously, the Elderling Saga (start with the Farseer Trilogy, then LiveShip trilogy, then Tawny Man trilogy) is such a great series.

Stop the series after the Tawny Man trilogy though, Dragon Keeper was supposed to be a fleshed-out followup to the LiveShip trilogy but clearly it was written just to get more money off of its popularity, it should be skipped - it adds nothing whatsoever to the series.
