In the episode a woman sues the Catholic Church for not ordaining her to become a priest, and manages to get their tax exempt status revoked. Clearly this shows that Boston Legal is either bashing the Church or trying to force its ideology on to it. Stupid episode that could encourage stupid people to try to sue the Church over the woman's ordination issue. Here is the whole story

The writers of Family Matters are prejudiced against fictitious fast food joints like Mighty Weenie by portraying them as crummy places to work and eat. I hate it when TV shows try to shove things down our throats.

If the American people are so impressionable that something as trivial as a television dramedy can kick up a stink, your country doesn't deserve to have broadcast television.

Or a legal system, for that matter.

Or much else.

Apparently Kids Wb was once forced to cancel shows and replace with more educational children's cartoons...that's just wrong.

If they'd have been bashing atheists you'd be defending its right to free speech but since you're the target of scrutiny they're prejudiced, intolerant bashers, forcing their ideology on others.

How are they forcing their ideology onto anyone? How is speaking your opinion forcing your ideology onto others? ... Killing people who refuse to convert to your religion and indoctrinating supple children is forcing your ideology onto people. I find it hilarious that Catholics pretend they think "ideology-forcing" is such a despicable thing to do but in their next breath defend their indoctrination of children. The Church must have banned the word hypocrisy from Catholic dictionaries.

This is another typical case of the Church and the disgusting little vermin Bill Donahue pretending the Catholic Church is a victim. Tell me, bigot, why are they not allowed to voice their opinion on the tax exempt status of the Church and its bigotry towards women? This doesn't even resemble prejudice, it's a man fed up with the Church's stranglehold on people and the favoritism it receives from the government speaking his opinion.

1. it's stupid to promote controversial views on a tv program that is an entertainment show 2. The Catholic Church's refusal to ordain women is an internal matter and as such nonCatholics should not stick their noses in it, worry about their own religion. 3. It's okay to Criticise the Catholic Church for not having Women Clergy, but how come nobody criticises Orthodox Judaism or Islam for the same thing. 4. how is it "indoctrination" for Catholic parents to raise their children Catholic, what are they supposed to do raise them as Muslims. 5. And no, if the show bashed atheists i would not defend the show.

Tax exempt status is not an internal matter for any religion, and controversial "ripped from the headlines" storylines have been a mainstay of TV dramas for decades, just so you know.

Is this the first episode of Boston Legal you have ever watched?

If you were a regular viewer you'd know that Crane, Poole & Schmidt take on varying cases, and there is usually a few people at the firm who don't agree with it, and a few that do. In the episode you're refering to one of the lawyers representing the client clearly did not agree that women should be given priesthood (word?), but he argued in her favour anyway. That's what's interesting about some of their cases: If they are hired to try a case they have to try to win, even if they don't always agree with it.

I will admit that the writers (not one person writes every episode, keep in mind) seem to sway to a Democratic way of thinking, but you can always count on Denny Crane (William Shatner) to bring up the more Republican view.

It's a really great show, so don't judge it by this single episode.
