Don't think it can be done. Computers don't think the same as humans. As far as they're conserned It's all just one sound. I might be wrong though...

Yes there is. The AV Karaoke Maker converts music for karaoke singing or just the melody without the voices. You can download and use this software for free.

Like Multitracks?

No software that I'm aware of, you'll have to find the tracks individually. Nine Inch Nails lets you download their newer songs multitracked.

Rock band or one of those games has them, not sure how to get at them though.

I think you mean Karoke softwares. I don't know much but you can google "Karoke softwares" you may find something of your interst

of course there is, but depending on how the song was mixed, results will vary for different songs

audacity might be able to it, I'm pretty sure it can seperate vocals, I'm not sure how though.

It doesn't remove them but bury them into the mix, even then it can still be audible but usually you would do it for a cover or something. I'm sure there is karaoke software as one guy made an account to say, but like another user said it will vary in results. You might end up with it just being buried, not completely removed. Apart from that, no. Once the song is mixed and everything it is impossible to completely have the stereo instrument tracks minus vocals. At least as far as I know/have searched and trust me I've looked into this a lot.
