Is there any way to prevent Internet Explorer from tracking opened local files?

If you don't know what I'm talk about,

1) Open a text file.

2) Go to Internet Explorer > History > My Computer. You'll find the text file there.

This is a pretty dumb feature and I want it off. It does this with every file you open on the computer even if you don't use Internet Explorer. Is there anyway to turn this off, or turn off history entirely for IE 8?

I don't use it. But like I said it records the stinking history even if IE is never opened. I use Firefox all the time, but even when I download any file with Firefox, the history gets recorded there in IE! I mean how ridiculous is that?

Oh and I'm certain this problem gets faced by everyone with an updated version of IE. Most likely they just didn't notice it.

i hate Satansoft because of all this crap

they put in their OS
