Is there such a thing as an "ironic" ad?

I just got sent an advertisement for "first cIass knockoff watches" by my friend and I couldn't tell if this was serious or not.

It's supposed to be a real ad, showing those fancy gold/silver watches with the weird hands and such.

I... have no idea if this happens often. Does anyone know any commercials or whatever that are perhaps tongue-in-cheek like that?

tons, I can't name them. But many have subliminal messages that mock the consumer, especially in america, just because most people aren't going to catch it or think that it was their intention.

I'm unsure how this is ironic. They're basically saying "we're making knockoffs, but they're the best knockoffs around". They can't market them as real, that would be illegal, so that's the best they can really do.

Umm I was browsing a video game related site. Of all the many ads I see on a regular basis on the internet, that one just caught my attention and I had to save it.

I'm currently feeling doubtful that anyone who's posted here knows what ironic is... :P

An ironic ad might be an ad that is put out to increase sales of a product that is currently selling in a mediocre manner that ends up completely destroying sales and putting the seller out of business. Which has probably happened, although I don't have an example in mind.

I would assume an ironic ad would be one that tries to convince you the product isn't worth buying.

Showing women in commercials, in the Middle-East. How this went passed the Saudia sensors I'll never know. They're being too lenient.
