I take the library wifi connection that is right by my house without them knowing. I dont think its stealing unless it from a personal home.

if you dont have premission from the church to use their Wi-Fi, then i would say it's stealin their internet.

On one hand your not paying for it and your using it without their conscent so it is stealing.. on the other hand if they dont have any security setup to stop people using it then it's their own fault.

I work at a church and we have separate routers for people. One is open so guests can access the internet and the rest are encrypted and on faster connections. Legally speaking, I think you're free to use anything that's not blocked with a password.

haha yes, but if they dont have password then theres nothing really they can do. if they didnt want people using their internet then they would have put a password for the connection.

Most of the time when it's a company offering you free internet they put bandwith caps on everything. But if it's say an old lady living next door then you've got full range of her wireless internet connection. I would think that if a church has wifi it's probably intended for church members & guests to use. Whoever put the thing up probably knows how to put a password on it and I would have figured that if they didn't put a password on it then it's ok to use. IMO

ITs perfectly legal to use anyones wifi, that they willing put out without any sort of protection.
