is war with Iran inevitable

a group of u.s. officials said a couple of weeks ago (after Germany said it would not back further sanctions) that diplomacy had failed and that a military response is necessary and they were discussing either a naval blockade or airstrikes. the French foreign minister said that France must be prepared for the possibility of war with Iran (hopefully that means that if the U.S. does have to go to war that the French will help us and i know the Israelis will help, so it's not like the U.S. will be fighting alone). the problem is that Germany, Russia and China won't support more sanctions. we can prevent war but sanctions, the Ayatollahs won't back down to them but if the sanctions are hard enough we can trash the Iranian economy and maybe angry Iranians will topple the government, or the Iranian Government will just go bankrupt and not have enough money to support the nuke program.

The US has neither the capacity, nor the money to go to war with a country like Iran.

Also, Iran hasn't violated and UN policies, the US would be labeled a terrorist country.

And I think attacking Iran would open realistic doors for it to support Iraqi ressistance, more openly support Palestine, and pretty much destroy any westren grasp on the Middle-east.

Israeli has one of the best trained fighting forces in the world and they alone could but up a fight against Iran. Put the US and France into the equation and Iran would not stand a chance. The policy for this war if it happens should be to destroy Iran and get out not try to re-establish.

Why the US? I'm just wondering.. (seriously) why I never see any other countries dealing with these threats? I mean i see threats and smack talk, but hardly any military help once the US is in, its the US only with I believe a good amount of British? But don't the british pull out eventually?darkfox101

You don't see what I'm getting at. Israel might be able to hold it's own with Iran, but Iran is much larger, and harder to attack since it's intel is kept rather private.

And when Iran attacks, all Arab countys will attack as well. It's like lighting the fuse. You don't seem to be well into politcs.

Israel could take on Iran because they are in no small part funded by the US. Think US firepower and technology without the moral qualms that go with them (and that's saying alot about a country...). [sigh]

Attacking Iran at this point wouldn't be in anyone's best interests, those of the US, Israel, or certainly the Iranian people. Despite all of their sabre rattling, Iran has nothing to gainin attacking any western interests, they're just (quite understandably) nervous about what the US will try to do in order to justify an attack of their country.
