It cannot be argued: 90s Hip-Hop/Rap is better than the current one

Here's what we got in the 90s:

Tupac

The Notorious B.I.G./Biggie Smalls

Eazy E

Eminem

Dr. Dre

90s Jay-Z

Now there is this

Lil Wayne

Drake

Nicki Minaj

Soulja Boy

Kanye West

Current Jay-Z

There are more on both sides, but you get. What happened to real Hip-hop/Rap? There were really good ones to crap ones. Will this be the end of the genre?

You act as if rap has always been good It's the same thing with classic rock. For every Beatles or Led Zeppelin, there were 10 One Directions

lol You obviously don't know much about rap if you think the genre is going to die or "end." Even someone who dosen't listen to rap at all can tell you that.

I mean, you could certainly make the argument that 90's hip-hop was better than it is today. Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Wu-Tang, Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie, UGK, and many others were all dropping classic albums in the 90s. If I compared hip-hop today to hip-hop in the 90s I would probably lean towards the 90s too.

But at the same time to cherry-pick some of the most celebrated rappers from the 90s and then to pick some of the more hated rappers of today to compare the two eras is being misleading. You can't use Soulja Boy as an example of hip-hop today unless you also use Vanilla Ice as an example of hip-hop in the 90s.

Plus, Eazy E is probably the most overrated rapper of all time.

You can say Rap is crap all day but in the end its your opinion and thats what you think.

Raps not dead and won't die for awhile. Also Nicki's pretty much a pop star nowadays.

What the majority likes will stay relevant and popular

What the minority likes will be underground and less heard or irrelevant and unpopular. I like rap nowadays, I mostly listen to Trap music.

80's were nearly better than the 90's in my opinion. But many rappers post 00's era were creative in their lyrics and overall style. There are only a handful rappers around today that really have their own identity and rap/sing about things beyond the current stereotype of rap music like money, b1tches, hoes, drugs, and guns....

The genre is doing just fine. If anything it's the liveliest it's been in years with the blossoming of K Dot and his Black Hippy crew. Can't forget Joey Bad.

I personally think hip-hop is more interesting now than it has been in the past, but that's just me. You just have to get off the radio or out of the club to find it.
