Before I go wining about a problem, or asking for help. I tend to Google it. I can`t get past a certain part in a game, Google it. I want to find out how much a good gaming PC is, Google it. I can`t remember the ingredients for thermite, Google it. Am I the only person who finds it easier and more reliable then posting on a forum? I take a look through the list of forum topics and about 7/10 are questions or complaints that Google could have solved. Thoughts?...

(I had this in the general games section, but it was locked. They said it belonged here.)

Those threads/questions will keep googles answers more current.

On the reverse point, the forums would be 70% more dead if everyone Google'd it.guynamedbilly

Yea, but it would clean out all the crap. Forums are for discussion, news, and opinions. Not yes/no, a/b, or one sentence reply questions. If I want to know how much a certain graphics card is, I would Google it. If I wanted reviews or opinions on it, I would post a topic about it on a forum. If I want to know how to get past a certain boss, I would Google for a spoiler free walkthrough or guide. If I wanted to find out what people thought about the boss, I would post a topic about it on a forum.

If no one posted their questions on forums, googling would be pointless.Black_Knight_00

Ha, that is a pretty good point, to an extent.

(This was the biggest issue on the original topic)

Google is great. The Gumby Google image they had a while back was pretty cool.

Yes. Just earlier I found out the secrets of life, how to get rid of moles, sites for cheaper airline tickets, and how to get rich quick!

Google is great for finding things out, search engines are one of the greatest things in technology in my opinion. If you ever have a problem in any form of life = google.

I believe this to be true as well. I do a fair bit of both, however.

I find that asking on a forum is way more fun than just googling it.

I personally use DuckDuckGo. A fellow GameSpotter mentioned it on here a while ago and I checked it out and liked it.

What would be the point of getting an instant answer on google when you can get hundreds of completely pointless answers with maybe 1 or 2 useful ones on a forum

Heck, I'm a nurse in an ER and I often google stuff out to make sure I'm right... "Is this medications for blood pressure?" *googles* "Yup, you're right!". I just make sure to always get 2-3 sources before I decide on a final answer, unless I know the site is very reliable (like drugs.com for meds)

I know what you mean, I find so many things when I google. I just answer questions about stuff the TC knows more about than me.

I agree. You can get some intresting replies sometimes, instead of just googling it and getting nothing funny or cool or whatever.

If Google can't find it, it doesn't exist.
