What do you do? I just had a power outage from hurricane Matthew for an hour. It was the realist hour of my life. No lights and your animal instincts kick in. I felt like a feral ghoul within seconds.

@playmynutz: Lol, we just got power today, but I lost my monitor. I forgot to unplug it when I left my home.
Well, I've got a few flashlights around. I would probably shut down my computer as it's battery wouldn't last that long. Beyond that, well, make sure to keep the refrigerator shut as much as possible (it's not like I've never lost power before) to keep food fresh. I'd probably get up to speed on a few books as I have quite the reading list. Don't really know beyond that, I'd probably just do my best to keep my cool. Hell without power I doubt I would even know it was Russia before it was restored seeing as how the information age relies on electricity to be possible.
Sorry about your deal with the hurricane tc. I hope everything turns out okay for you.
I complain that I can't turn on my T.V and hope the power comes back before my 3DS's battery dies. If it dies I guess go to my laptop and watch something and hope the power comes back before its battery dies. This gives me about 5-9 hours of things to do and sleeping could kill another 8-10 hours, so I'd be good for the first day then I'd be bored out of my mind.
@iandizion713: Too bad about your monitor. I didn't know you're suppose to unplug electronics luckily my ps4 and tv made it.
I'm learning a lot about power outages now. Was expecting more burning and looting comments.
@Riverwolf007: First thing we did when we could was go to a nice restaurant. We were like Publix? Nah, Outback Steak House.
My generator comes on in a short period of time and I resume my daily habits and responsibilities.
I would have to haul mine out of the garage but yeah.
When Mother Russia unleashes her righteous wrath, we'll lose more than the power grid. And the ensuing nuclear winter will last much longer than hurricane Matthew.
There aren't enough nukes left in the world for a nuclear winter.
@Realmjumper: I tried not to be-little the situation, sorry I know how serious power outages really are. Glad to see you're alright and my best wishes go to those without power still.
I lost power for 2 weeks during Hurricane Irene, ate a lot of pb and j and played a lot of board/card games with my wife. I also did a bunch of candlelight reading. The first week was not so bad, the second week it started to get really cold so we just wound up going out to dinner + movie every night then going to bed under layers of blankets.
light some candles, drink some beer, and read while I wait for the power to come back on. Maybe clean out the freezer and fridge if it is for a long time, don't want that stuff spoiling.
Well as a Brit, I'd watch it all happen on the internet while drinking my tea, eating my cookies and hoping you lot over the pond can look after yourselves for a little while.....then slowly swear to myself as I realise we may be next and that means I'll have to boil water on gas stove to make tea.
