Here we go guys. Looks like Ep.8 is doing it's own thing after the very safe Ep.7

Wouldn't it be interesting if the "balance" the trailer mentioned is some mix of good and bad (dark and light)? That the reason Luke thinks it's time for the Jedi to end is because he realizes that attempting to stick to only being good is naive?

Could be. I mean, all this talk about balance necessarily implies that some quantity of evil must exist besides the good. Like what the heck? Why can't we only have good! :(
So not only the Sith must cease to exist but in turn the Jedi must too since one seems like a pre-requisite for the other.
Anyway, looking forward to this philosophical exploration on the Jedi/Sith dichotomy.

I thought this as well. Hasn't it always been the case that Luke has never been completely good. He did use anger in his battle with Darth. Will be interesting to explore.
Doing its own thing. Hmmmm. The last remaining jedi against the sith. Where have we seen that before. It's almost like the prior movie had a death star like station that had to be destroyed by a rag tag force.

So... Disney has been super impressive with their rewriting of the old EU, imo.
IF this is following what i think it is (Crucible) there is no balance. Or i guess there kind of is. So..... in Crucible Luke was absorbed by the force itself and as a result he turned over the jedi order and wanted nothing to do with it. This is because he came out with an understanding that light and dark didnt matter, its the same thing. It seems to me that he has reached this same point and conclusion in this movie, how he got there should be a different story (while fairly similar. Jacen Solo did destroy one of his temples and was essentially the story of anakin done correctly) but i think theyve gone to the same place. This is a fairly safe bet IMO, especially considering theyve introduced... i dont know his name... ubuntu, in the rebels series. Who is essentially the same thing.
Looked great. I liked those racer things. The bits with Luke and Rey were nice and them using that old Jedi Knight looking design for a logo is cool.
I do wonder what Flynn can really do, he is not even that good of a pilot, maybe he will show up to take out Captain Plasma , or awaken hidden Jedi powers, guess that's one of the many mysteries to be answered at the end of the year.
Nice trailer but I'm starting to get a little burned out on star wars. A new one every year is just to much for me man :(

Yah, i agree.
Its odd because ive always been a huge SW dork and am totally used to five or six novels coming out every year and ive never been burnt out. But the movies yearly, seems to be a bad idea or a flooding of the market that leaves out some of the SW magic. With Rouge One, as good as it was, i didnt get that feeling before the movie. That magical, "youre actually going to see a new SW" feeling. Something i even got with episodes 1 and 2 (however not with 3, but i did again with 7), as horrifically bad as they were.
@Serraph105: so....Luke is Kreia (KOTOR reference)?
I'd be shocked if they went anywhere near that dark games plot. It would be amazing, but completely doubt it.
It's probably in reference to his own failings and feeling bad about himself, which the girl convinces Luke to give it all 1 more shot.

No, Luke is Luke.
As ive mentioned before this is the same outcome Luke reached with the old EU, the journey seems to be different, but the result the same. By the end of the book pictured below, Luke had concluded that there was no dark or light side of the force. It was all simply the force. He came to the this conclusion after being engulfed in the force itself, pure force energy and saw the force for what it really was. After this conclusion he dropped all ties to the jedi order and being known as a jedi and what not. Sadly, the EU was erased before we got the next book.
I'm thinking Luke is going to go for the Grey Jedi thing.
I hope they go for a bit of a slower pace in this movie. Explore what happened with Luke. Show some training bits with Rey. I imagine all the heroes are going to be split up for the bulk of the movie (Rey and Luke on the island, Finn and Chewie doing their thing, Poe and the Alliance doing their thing), and then a climatic reunion at the end and then someone will die.
