I've seen a lot of movies and this has always puzzled me

I was watching an episode of Doctor Who and this girl was in a car, and for reasons I won't go into, the car doors locked and she couldn't get out. Now any time I see something like this happen in a movie or TV show I always wonder "In stead of screaming why don't you just pull the lock up and get out?".

Any time I'm in a car and the doors are locked I just pull the lock up and it's unlocked. Why don't they ever do this is movies or television? I just don't understand.

Or break a window and climb out.

It would break the suspense if they would get smart all of a sudden...

yeh thats is something to consider, its really stupid when you think about it (how the person is that stupid not able to open the lock) :)

Dude, there are many things that bug me about movies:

1. Why do gun clips hold random number of bullets and why does the number change with each passing reload?

2.Why do people fly back when shot with a shot gun?

3.Why do the bad guys have piss poor aim througout the movie except for the one time they kill a character to progress the story by shooting them right inbetween the eyes with a desert eagle from 10 miles away while jumping off a plane in cold foggy temperature?

4.Why do the dumb protagonists scream at the sight of a dead body knowning full well there are armed men just around the corner waiting to kill them?

5. Why do action heroes use 2 pistols when that only decreases their accuracy? And why dont they just use one, thus increasing their acuraccy x2 and then take the clip from the other one to use later?

6. Why do cops walk around town with 5+ extra clips for their guns? Are they expecting to go to war? (Look at Die Hard 4.0 too see what i mean. In the beginning when McClain goes to pick up the kid)

7. Why is it safe to fall from any height into water?

8.Why is everyone so proficient with the usage of guns? Do they practice every day on the off chance that Alien Cyborgs will attack them?

9.Why are all female assassins extremely attractive? Actually make that all female villians.

10. Why do bad guys monologue in the heat of battle?

11. Why is there alwas an escape route. Cant they be in an installation that is about to blow up that doesnt have sum hidden subway system to take them to saftey? And if it does have this system, why do these bad guys, who obviously put alot of time and effort into their plan, leave it running?

12. Why does the black guy always die first unless he or sumone else makes a statement to that effect?

13. Why do all terrorist, aliens, time travellers, evil super villians, monsters, etc. feel the need to attack New York City? And why does the Statue of Liberty always get the brunt of the attacks? What is the point of destroying it? no one lives in it, and its not on the main land.

14. Why does the noob hero, even if he dies in the end, always seem to outdo the 20 year extreme hardcore SpecOps trained battalion of troops?

15. In 24, how come none of the characters eat or drink? I dont care if the terrorists are about to nuke NYC, you still need your food and fluids!

16. Why do the protagonists always fall in love or get attracted to each other mid crisis? Arent they more concerned about...i dunno...surviving?

17. Why do the smart bank robbers rob banks if they already have quiet a bit of money considering all the gear and gadgets they use to get the job done?

18. Why do bank robbers use fancy gear? cant they just rob a bank without picking up building and turning it upside down?

And those are just a few questions... :(

Rate of fire. If the guy is using two guns at once, it's a relative given that he's a good shot. Using two guns at once may reduce his accuracy, but it would increase his rate of fire. Accuracy is generally preferable, I would agree, but there are many instances where accuracy would be so low anyway that the increased rate of fire would be a greater benefit than the loss of accuracy would be a detriment.

If I was McClain, after what he's been through, I'd walk around carrying a ****ing arsenal.

Why would anyone make a base without an escape route? It makes good sense to have a means of escape, especially when you are the target of governments.

We don't see all the characters all the time. They eat the instant they cut to another plot strand.

Because they're always hot. I dunno about you, but being in mortal danger wouldn't make me less attracted to hotties.

Rich people always want to be richer - and wealth is relative. They may lead very expensive lives. A few million may be a fortune to you or me, but it may be a year's expenditure to someone else.

Probably because they're smart. You need a good plan to get away with a big heist. Smash and grabs don't work so well in modern banks.

But that's the point. There isn't any drama if I know that the person could just reach over and pull up the door lock and get out. Instead I just sit there and think about how big an idiot the person in the car is.
