Christopher Nolan VS James Cameron

Who you perfer and why?

James Cameron:

  • The Terminator
  • Aliens
  • Terminator 2
  • True Lies
  • Titanic
  • Avatar

Christopher Nolan:

  • Batman Begins
  • Dark Knight
  • Dark Knight Rises
  • Inception
  • Man of Steel
  • The Prestige

Well, i perfer James Cameron becuase he made 3D this big, also he has great movies, new ideas such as Terminator, Avatar and sequel to Alien. Also, Titanic is best documental movie ever made. True Lies is big action movie. My favorite movies are Terminator 1 and 2, so i pick James Cameron.

Well, Nolan made also some great movies like The Prestige and Dark Knight but those were like too long and no action. The only movie i liked is Inception, it´s big. Man of Steel is **** up. Soulless movie, Superman has no soul, looks like none of them do. What Nolan dosent seem to have but James has is love in movie.

Upcoming movies:

James Cameron movies in future:

1. Avatar 2 - A sequel to the 2009 global phenomenon. Some where in oceans of Pandora(underwater), new discovery of a new world.

2. Battle Angel - In the twenty-sixth century, a female cyborg is rescued from the scrap heap by a scientist.

Christopher Nolan movies in future:

1. Interstellar - A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

WHO YOU PREFER AND WHY?

Cameron is a sell-out, but he did make Terminator 1 and 2, and Aliens. Nolan however is the most overblown, overrated directors ever.

Cameron, with classics like Terminator 2 and Aliens and Abyss, didn't so much care for Avatar but still Titanic was okay, plus Cameron invested his fortune into private enterprise space mining EDIT: oh, forgot about True Lies, great fun flick Nolan, sure the first two Dark Knight movies were good, but the last one sucked pretty hard, and before that all he really had going for him was Momento, he's on a path to being irrelevant EDIT: oh, forgot about Inception, I actually liked that one, maybe there's hope for him yet EDIT: oh, and judging from the list of upcoming future titles, I'll give the advantage there to Nolan

Terminator -  There's no fate but what we make for ourselves.

Titanic - Well, it just showed what happened.

Avatar - Lesson for humankind to stop damaging the environment.

Well, what movie messages Nolan had? None.

Titanic is just Romeo and Juliet on a boat. Avatar is just Pocahontas with aliens and spaceships. Because of him almost every film is in 3D which is more expensive to pay for. Plus Titanic was re-released back into theaters in 3D even though the film has grossed over a $1 billion. The creativity is gone. The money is apparently more important.

Uh...The Terminator was an original property, but the idea has been used before. Aliens was a sequel. Terminator 2 was a Sequel. Very little, if any of this man's work has been completely original. He's also been a very successful filmmaker (from a financial standpoint) for a long-ass time. He never would have been given a chance to do Terminator 2 or Aliens if The Terminator had not been a hit. If anything, he's LESS of a sellout now because he seems to pretty much just do whatever the f*** he feels like. Titanic was one of the highest grossing movies of all time ( I think it was THE highest grossing movie of all time, at the time), and Cameron immediately followed that up by not doing another feature length film for more than a decade. During that time he was pouring his personal money into his real loves, which were exploration of space and the deep sea and investing and funding new technology. It's not like the man wasn't f***ing doing anything, he just wasn't f***ing making movies. And somehow, he's a sellout NOW? Look...I'm not making any claims about the relative QUALITY of the man's work during his early and late career. But "a sellout"? One could make a very strong case that he's less of a sellout now than he has ever been in his entire career.

Uhhh, Nolan's films actually do have themes and messages and stuff. They're kinda pretty much up-front stated. Not easy to miss.

Anyway, I can't say. They've both got big, distinguished careers, even if I immensely dislike Avatar.

James Cameron for me since the Terminator franchise is one of my all time favorites. Including Terminator films he didn't work on. He created an awesome world that I can't get tired of.

WTF!? Are you kidding me, you need to go rewatch that movie now, it is not a 5/10. To answer the original question, Terminator/Terminator 2/Aliens/Titanic are all among my favorite films ever. While I also love some of Christopher Nolan's films, James Cameron's have a more special place and are more to my taste.

I don't need to re watch anything, aside from the spectacular special effects that was a dumb movie. The little girl that only serves as bait, predictable "group of people go some place, few, if any, will leave" plot. And don't get me started on how incompetent and inept the "Marines" behave. And that is that.

Cameron made some stand-out movies that really shaped the way we do action films today.  Nolan pushed the envelope as far as comic book adaptations and action movies are concerned.  Overall I'd have to give my vote to Nolan, but Cameron was there with some of those influential titles.

Cameron is ok, but I think Nolan is a much better director and writer.

Memento, The Prestige, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Inception wipe the floor with Aliens, The Terminator, Avatar and Titanic.

The girl provides the emotional centre of the movie as acting for a sort of replacement for Ripley's daughter who died while she was in cryosleep.

I am sorry that you feel that way but I can respect your opinion. I was not impressed with most of Cameron's movies, I do not see how some of them even were as successful as they were.

Tough call. Nolan is definitely the better writer and is also better at directing actors to great performances. But I have to go with Cameron.

As far as action directing goes, nobody touches James Cameron IMO. The sinking of the Titanic might be the single greatest "action" sequence in movie history. While the story is cliche and corny, I was blown away last year when I re-watched Titanic in theatres. It seemed like a movie from another planet. A bygone era, when filmmaking was actually a craft.

Today, action movies are all shot the same, either shaky cam, or its all about placing a thousand cameras and shooting a scene from all angles and finding the best stuff to use in editing, also CGI. It's just incoherent. While I think Nolan's films are excellent, the action suffers from these shortcomings. I don't even think its the director's fault, it is simply the new status quo. DPs that started on music videos and moved on to movies.

But you go back and watch the way Cameron shot action sequences, you can see there's so much going on in terms of planning and staging, and how they meticulously planned and prepered every single shot. Everything was shot perfectly, and everything made visual sense. It was a craft. Even if the movie had a cheesy story and two-dimensional characters, his direction and craftmanship was enough to elevate those movies to another level.

Also agree on T2 being better than anything Nolan has done. At least as an action movie, nothing tops T2 imo. I'd even pick it over Die Hard.
