Japan disaster. (Quake moved Japan coast 8 feet, shifted Earth's axis)

In the news here in Poland, I've heard about that Japanese Island (one of the biggest in the world) Has moved 2.5 meters :o
And that Earth Axis has moved too. (It has moved like from 10-25cm)
And Day is now shorter about 1 second, because of that shift.

How is that even possible? :|

Maybe there were lots of threads like this (I dont know. haven't searched)

10 centimeters is barely a change in maps. Also in GPS systems it won't even matter? The 2 miles before the left turn will still be 2 miles on a GPS I believe. Pretty cool stuff though. (yeah I know it's a disaster but interesting)LustForSoul

That map looks refreshing. I always wanted to feel a nice breeze of radiation. I heard radiation taste like metal, yum yum.

We could be more effected than Japan, they owe us some $$$$$

We can't bill the earthquake or the tsunami. Someone has to pay the $$$$. Japan's got the $$$$, even though they have the largest debt in the world. They can work off the $$$$ by showing us free anime.

That 2.5 meter movement of island is a difference. Not much but always.

In ten day it will reach US with 750 RAD.

This is probably a dumb question, but whats the radatian cloud going to do like is it harmful? Yes im aware this is a dumb question =).

Also what is crazy that i just found out is, that a Volcano errupted in Japan, i mean jeez they have horrbile luck! An EarthQuake, Tsunami, and a Voclano Eruption!!! Whats the world coming too!!?

The axis of the earth moved because of the resulting force the quake put forth. Think as the earth as a gumball...if a force from inside the gumball exploded the gumball would have to be moved in one way or another.

Official statement on their website. They didn't create this image, someone else did and they are using their name. Not the first time someone has done it, but the person certainly is a douche to do it at a time like this. If you want to stay up to date on possible radiation in your area then check your local Health and Human Services website and they should have info up. Mine does at the moment. Also the MIT has a lot of in depth info up about what's going on with the reactors in Japan.
