the word is Jewish, not jew. if you call someone a jew, then that's kind of like a slur.

okay. maybe it was just the kids at my school who used Jew as a slur. they didn't say Jew refering to each other. they said it as an insult. so maybe that's where i got the idea that calling someone a Jew was a slur. my bad.

Any racial, sexual or spiritual minority in a given place often automatically attains negative connotations. That's not really true and my sociology prof would slap me for saying it. Still, they're not very good insults.

If I were called a Mexican, I'd just be confused. If I were called a Jew, I'd assume I did something stingy at some point. If I were called gay well - even I'm guilty of using the word negatively, mostly to describe something that sucks. I'll often go "this is gay However, I wouldn't call anyone gay if I don't perceive them to be homosexual, simply because it's a crappy insult that only 5-year olds use.

Yeah, it's being used in a negative way. But the word itself is totally fine to use in relation to them.

Being hispanic, I can tell why Mexican would be viewed as an insult by hispanics. It's found insulting because when someone of another race thinks we are Mexican just because we are hispanic they make it look like Mexico is the only hispanic country that exists. I've heard Jew being used as an insult a lot. usually it's when a person is being cheap and someone will say "Oh quit being such a Jew"

You can say "Que pedo wey" in a frienly manner or you can say "Que pedo wey!" in anon friendly manner
