I don't think Satriani has much of a case. A lot of songs sound like that, I'm sure it's just a wise business move by Satch to get his name out there. Almost any publicity is good publicity. Although I'm sure most people will play him off as "that bald guy that sued Coldplay".The_ZoidSatch is sueing Coldplay? Hmm, I'll have to look into this.
You paired up some pretty different bands there But Joe wins by a mile. He has major shredding skillz!!!Luncbox1
He's talking about the lawsuit.
Honestly, there are some parts in the two songs that sound pretty similar.
Still, I hope Coldplay wins just because I don't think it's really something that he should've sued over.
Is this some type of joke? Obviously Joe Satriani.
Edit: Oh wait. This is about a law suit between Joe Satriani and Coldplay. I thought it was another how is the better band.
[QUOTE="Devour2Survive"]Hope Joe wins...that'll teach Coldplay to stop releasing generic boring music.Dutch_Mix
Coldplay's music is anything but boring or generic...
Says you? Sounds like boring background music you would hear in a restaurant.[QUOTE="Dutch_Mix"][QUOTE="Devour2Survive"]Hope Joe wins...that'll teach Coldplay to stop releasing generic boring music.Devour2Survive

I don't know if I'd call them elevator music...more like that crap your dentist tries to pass off on the CD when he's drilling on your head because he figures your so damned drugged you won't notice that it's actually Michael Bolton when you asked for Metallica.

hahahahahahahaha well said good sir! It'd better be Coldplay. The suit is frivolous.Theokhoth
Did you actually listen to Joe's song. It's the same music!!!!
Joe over some lousy sampling song stealers any day.
Porcupine Tree will enter as suprise contestants and blow the competition away... especially given the other 2 contestants :P
Edit: Damn, didn't realize that it was a legal case :P
Agreed.Honestly, there are some parts in the two songs that sound pretty similar.

Its not like he's some underground guitarist nobody has heard of. I think Satch is kinda being an a**hole with this suit to be honest, which sucks cause I love Satch. This type of stuff happens all the time, and has been happening since people started writing music.. I will say though, shame on Coldplay for not at least trying to make it their own and change some stuff up a bit. That vocal melody was a complete rip off from that guitar melody. Satch might actually have a case, but as said, I wouldn't have actually sued Coldplay.
I hope Satriani wins...the 2 songs are VERY similar and for anyone to claim they dont see the similarities they are either deaf or just plain lying.II_Seraphim_II
The similarity lasts for four seconds (never shows up again) and the same tune can be heard in at least two other songs by two other artists after Satriani's time. The suit is frivolous. Like Wendy's suing McDonald's for using the same brand of salt on their fries.
