Ehh. I don't think they ever really recovered after his return. Don't get me wrong, Californication was a MOSTLY good album and By the Way is alright when Im in the mood for it. Stadium Arcadium was just plain boring. Im just bitter because I know they'll never put out an album I like more or as much as Mother's Milk. Besides Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
I kinda doubt they will continue. They've been on a hiatus for a long time. Plus Chad and Flea both have other stuff goin on.
It was fun while it lasted. Glad I got the chance to see them a few times.

Yeah their have been rumours and what not going around for the past week or so, its sad really I wanted I dont know whats going to happen now but I'm glad I at least saw them at slane castle... easily the best concert I have ever been to.

Awww. He was by far their best guitarist they ever had. Oh well. Their last album was crap anyway. I doubt the upcoming one will reach the heights of Blood Sugar Sex Magik or Californication.

Too bad. I enjoyed his stuff as a guitarist. I'm not sure he got the recognition he desereved. Then again, they were never my favorite band, so maybe he did.

Sucks for the fans, but good for him. They were lmiting him with their repetivie and monotonous sound. Doesnt mean I hate them, but they do get dull after a while. I always found his solo albums more interesting especially his recent one. Maybe now he can branch out and try new things.

RHCP is my favorite band, so at first I was quite crushed, but now I'm feeling a bit optimistic. They apparently replaced him with Josh Klinghoffer (played backup on their last European/Australian tour). I liked Stadium Arcadium a lot at first, but 3+ years after its release I've realized the songs are kinda stale and don't have much staying power for the most part. Maybe this will give them a spark to make a change in a new direction... although I think John was what was right with the band, so maybe not. Who knows
Nooooooooooooooooo! This is tragic news. After all the change the band has gone through though I really doubt they would break up at this point. Hopefully whoever they replace him with is good (I wonder if they are holding open Auditions...)
When you think about it John's guitar hooks are a huge part the modern Chili Pepper's sound.
They just won't be the same without him. But all the other members of the band are really tallented as well so hopefully they can find a good guitarist to push them in a new direction - it will have to be different, no artist should try to emulate who their replacing.
My favorite era in the Chili's life span has been long gone anyways.
