J.U.N.O. (Just Ugly 'N' Overrated)

Sorry, I couldn't resist the title. Juno actually isn't that ugly; just not too pretty. But one thing is for sure; this film is overrated.

So I went to see a movie with my friend today, but what to see? I Am Legend again? Nah, it wasn't good enough to watch a second time. Alien Versus Predator: Requiem? After the first one, I don't think I'll never watch one in the series again. National Treasure: Book of Secrets? I didn't see the first one, and the second one looks boring. One Missed Call? Lawlz. Juno? It got good reviews, and I've heard many great things about it from the good people of OT. It's not the type of film I would usually see, but I'll watch it.

As I watched it, I couldn't help but cringe at the annoying music, unrealistic dialogue, dumb jokes, and stupid protaganist. (I spelled that word wrong on purpose for the irony.) Juno is not an interesting character. The things she says just vex the living crap out of me. "Do you have a facility I can use? I have to pee like Seabuscit." That's probably not the best thing to say to the people who will be raising your kid for the next... forever. Also, Bleaker was an idiot. Maybe him being so stupid and girly was supposed to be funny, but I had a hard time understanding why the girl chose him to be her first... "you know what."

The weird relationship with Juno and Mark was... odd, to say the least. And they didn't really wrap up any loose ends with the relationship between her and Vanessa.

Overall, I thought the movie was highly overrated with stupid characters and dialogue that wanted me to pull my hair out. I knew that this movie wasn't going to be that funny, but I at least thought there would be some funny jokes. Skip this one. See Fifteen and Pregnant instead.

Personally, I LOVED this movie. This movie did for teenage girls what Superbad did for guys. And IMO, Juno's soundtrack could be ONE OF THE BEST ever; songs written for the movie (and moreover, for the characters themselves) by indie artists... what's not to like? No, Juno is not this year's "Little Miss Sunshine". Little Miss Sunshine was a very, VERY, dark comedy. This was a very screwed up family, the grandpa was snorting heroin, the uncle was a attempted suicide'e, a son that never speaks, a step-dad that doesnt know when to shut up(bad thing, trust me), and the mother is devorced. The only normal family member is the young daughter, who is a bit chubby, entering a beauity pagent. Yeah, pretty f'ed up, and thats only a fraction of the entire movie.

Juno just didnt have that total disfunctional family thing going. It was funny but not on the level that Little Miss Sunshine is.

it really depends on the crowd of people you hang around. i, for example, hang out with people like Juno. People who are different from the "look! i can playz the footballz!" or the "i'm pretty! love mez!!!!" type of people. the kinda oddball types but people you can actually like because they arent afraid to be themselves. people who say "i like this and this, and what!?" Its something different and thats why people love it (myself included). besides, theres only so many parodies/sequels/bad horror movies you can watch before you say "enough!"

Fifteen and Pregnant is a lifetime movie...its depressing and shows women as idiots. lol (my gf made me watch it lol).

Juno is an amazing movie... I saw it a couple of weeks ago and it is one of my faves now. Ellen Page and Michael Cera and everyone else in it are amazing, and it''s only the directors second movie, and it got nominated for best director and best picture, best actress in a leading role, and one or two other nominations, which is pretty damn good. now i'm no professional critic or anything, but i can definitly tell that you aren't either, simply because everyone who really knows movies knows that this is one hell of an awsome movie.
