yea i think i read somewhere that spielberg comfirmed that JP4 was back into the making and was to be released in the next couple of years. i'm not sure if thats true or not though :| and i think they started the idea back in 2003 or something
After the train-wreck that was Jurassic Park 3, I'm not sure whether I'd want to see another film in the series Then again, I never really was much of a fan of the franchise. I thought the first one was decent enough, but the second one was just.... twisted. The main heroes were really the villains in that one IMO.

Exactly. As cool as another Jurassic Park sounds, I really don't want to watch it unless it's actually a good movie. The first one is one of my absolute favorite films and I'd hate to see it turn into another farce of a sequel. (JP3 I'm looking at you.)

When Jurassic Park 4 comes out, they should give watchers a dial pad and make the movie interactive. So like when they show the protagonist about to make a decision it will give the viewer options with what they want the protagonist to do:
Hero: Oh my god...the dinosaurs...they are mutating into dinosaur monkeys! I think I know what I should do... Announcer: What do you want [hero] to do?
A) Fight the dinosaur monkeys to the death B) Cleverly evade the dinosaur monkeys and try to survive! C) Explain the process of DNA and DNA mutations, and why the dinosaurs are mutating into dinosaur monkeys D) File paperwork for people who think they know what they're talking about with DNA and DNA mutations.
And it's obvious the clear answer is D! - Exhilarating box office numbers guaranteed!
I bet it will be about a group of people who never left the island and have lived pretty well until something suddenly changes all that and we have our movie. I remember hearing things about JP4 since it was first brought up many many years ago, so I don't want to get hyped before seeing something other than rumors and false confirmations.
This should really never happen. The first was the only decent one, and even then it was horrible compared to the book. Then they really just went downhill with little to no story, or at least no story that was interesting. Just let the franchise die, we saw how they tried to bring back indiana jones and that didn't really go that well. However, it would be cool to see a new movie with dinosaurs in it, but just that, make it new, not another jurassic park (or that horrible looking show fox is having come out this year).
I love the Jurassic Park franchise and the first film is one of my favourite films of all time, if not my favourite. However... I don't know if reviving the franchise is a good idea. Joe Johnston proved that they have no good ideas for the franchise when he stole all the bits from the first two books that didn't make it into the original films and made them into Jurassic Park III.
If they can do it well, I'm all for it. Some of the plot ideas that have been mentioned over the years (like creating a Raptor mercenary army) are absolutely stupid and are an insult to Michael Crichton's original story. In my mind the JP franchise is about the science and the outcomes of what happens when two species separated by millions of years collide, not cheap thrills and crappy action.
I dunno. I'd think the plot would suffer greatly since you'd think all the protagonists would've learned their lesson by now. Don't mess with the dinos.

Jurassic Park 3 was AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.. I had more coherent dreams that made more sense then the plot line of that piece of excrement we call a movie.. To believe they got Sam Neil into that movie was shocking.. The movie was too bad that I could NEVER approve of a sequel that acknowledged that movie... Even when Spielberg did the second one, it really imo was only propped up by Jeff Goldbloom and Jullianne Moore as well as some side characters.. Even then it was largely a very stupid and boring mad rush of action that was boring and pointless.. Jurassic Park 1 was amazing for its novel idea.. And its well balance of the movie.. Compared to its sequels.. There were VERY few parts where the characters had to run for their lives or other such things.. I like to think this as The Mummy pattern.. The Mummy I loved with Brenden Fraiser.. It had comedy, and there was quite a large lead up in the movie to not depend entirely off just action.. Even then the action was witty and funny in many areas.. The Mummy returns.. Was absolutely awful.. They took what made the first movie great.. Got rid of the majority of the comedy and character's personality.. For a ridiculous wild mad dash to the end of the movie with non stop ridiculous action and forgettable characters.. That was the problem with Jurassic Park 3.. The characters SUCKED, I did not care if any of them ever died..

I think a great example of how Hollywood has deterioated in some areas over the years is with this example.. If we look at one of Spielbergs greatest movies, and one of the greatest movies of all time.. Jaws.. We will notice one thing shocking compared to modern day movies.. They actually show VERY little footage of the shark through out the movie, and they are focusing on the characters more.. I really think sometimes Hollywood has gotten carried away with CGI an think people would rather want to see that fully 3d CGI shark as much as possible now than have anything coming close to good story or characters.
I really hope that they make a fourth, it could be the fantastic dinosaur crisis movie that the first 3 should have been. The first is cool, but besides the first t-rex scene (which is one of my favorites of all time) and the kitchen scenes with the raptors I felt that the dinosaurs were widely underutilized. Make it a bit darker, throw in some more deaths and feature the dinosaurs a little bit more.
