Are you guys excited for the movie? Did you like the original? Do you think this will revive the series or kill it?

I don't have many hopes for the movie but will watch it in the theatre anyway due to sheer nostalgia. Maybe it'll be half decent, the last trailer wasn't terrible although I'd prefer pretty much anyone over Chris Pratt in it (well, maybe not Adam Sandler...)

Here's the new trailer that was released yesterday.

I half expect it to be underwhelming, but it's one of those movies where I can't not see it, like Star Wars. I liked the original cast better, seing as they looked much more like regular people and actual scientists (except Goldblum, but he was'nt a real scientist anyway, lol).

Edit: Even if it turns out rather stupid, I expect it to at least be a feast for the eyes and imagination. And the story does look to be stupid :)

@MlauTheDaft: Yep, I feel the same, although the new Star Wars looks quite good in my opinion, by the little I've seen of it. Then again, I'm in the minority who actually liked the prequels...maybe because the original trilogy never was this iconic shining beacon of my childhood.

Looks decent enough - vastly prefer to it that garbage that is the newest Terminator film.

@korvus: You're a patient man, if you can downright enjoy SW 1 and 2 ;)

If I were to make a lightsaber, I'd make it like this too btw:

Why? Because it looks cool, do I need another reason?

Didn't know there was a new Jurassic movie until a couple of weeks ago.

Still hype though since I recently re-watched the first 3 and Jurassic Park is one of my favourite ever films.

I'll probably enjoy it regardless of what reception it gets.

The only thing I'm mad about this new JP is the fact that they are not using Feathers on the Dinosaurs. They had this opprotunity to correct that mistake from the first movie, [I know, the feathers weren't discover later on when JP was release] this would have been the best thing to do it since it's a reboot after all. What was there reasons not to have Dinos Feathers around?

Other then that, I'm still going to go see Jurassic World and it's been so long since a Dinosaur movie has been made and all we been getting s Zombies, it's time for something decent. Plus, Starlord is in it.

@davillain-: JP was never an accurate movie though...Raptors had feathers (although not all of them), T-Rex's vision wasn't based on movement, Dilophosaurus didn't have a frill, weren't venomous and didn't spit...in fact they didn't hunt, they were scavengers.

@korvus: Jurassic Park movies were never accurate on Dinosaurs indeed. The only complaints I been hearing was the whole Dinos intelligence hybrid which sounds like Deep Blue Sea on land and that kinda piss everyone off for that. This is a summer movie after all so it got me interest to go see this and hey, I like Dinosaurs :-)

I'll say yay. It doesnt look too bad, and this new dinosaur seems like a good threat. Plus I'm sure the inevitable showdown with the T-Rex will be fun.

Looks like it will be a great popcorn flick.

I am one of the few who likes the entire trilogy (even if the first film is VASTLY superior to the others). This movie looks like the closest thing to a Dino Crisis movie we will ever get so count me excited!

There's also the fact that actual Velociraptors are much smaller than an average sized human and were modeled after more than a single type of dinosaur.

But yeah, it's a well established fact now that raptors did indeed have a few feathers on them. The closest we've seen to that is in Jurassic Park III where the males had a few on top of their head.

The movie versions are still pretty badarse though.

@Celldrax: Yeah, I guess it depends on what they were basing themselves on...velociraptors were a lot smaller than humans but utahraptors were actually larger...not sure if they just called everything velociraptors back then or if they thought using velociraptors wouldn't be as threatening but thought the name was cool and used it with utahraptors =P

And I agree, the original JP is still one of my all-time favourites.

This was explained in the first movie and the book. Remember how they spliced the frog DNA with the dinosaur DNA to create them? The frog DNA is what gives them that reptile look. The entire theme of the first film is that it's all an illusion and you can't **** with nature - hence the dinosaurs in the films aren't "real" dinosaurs.

The way the story goes is that while Jurassic Park was still in production, Spielberg and co. "created" the Velociraptors you see in the films and then in 1991 when the Utahraptor were unveiled, they looked VERY similar to the dinos the JP crew made for the film. They just kept the name. One of the production crew said "Later, after we had designed and built the Raptor, there was a discovery of a Raptor skeleton in Utah, which they labeled 'super-slasher'. They had uncovered the largest Velociraptor to date - and it measured five-and-a-half-feet tall, just like ours. So we designed it, we built it, and then they discovered it. That still boggles my mind." Life imitating art, pretty cool!

@korvus: I love the first Jurassic Park, but I've always felt like it was a one-movie-premise. None of the other movies managed to add anything worthwhile, and this seems like it's gonna be following the formula of "just like the first movie, only bigger and more stupid."

Granted, one could argue that Fury Road and Age of Ultron look like they're gonna fall into the same category. But at least I have a higher degree of confidence that they'll at least be well-made despite being "the same thing, just bigger and more stupid."

@MrGeezer: I feel the same, and yet there's this 5yo inside me that keeps screaming "dinosaurs!!!" so I'm going to watch the movie to shut him up =P That's pretty much what happened with JP2 and 3, although I didn't go to the theatre for those.

The trailer makes the movie look fucking dumb.. No lets not track a gigantic creature with inferred and take it down with a drone from the air.. I mean clearly they are a multi billion dollar corporation with cutting edge technology.... Lets send a handful of guys on foot with small arms! Brilliant! Looks like typical brainless block buster film. This sci-fi alternate reality must have not did any R&D to the point they are behind to what our military can do today.

@sSubZerOo: Mad Max might have been a good movie (personally not my cup of tea) but dinosaurs were a massive part of most 80s/90s kids and that's mostly the people who are hyping it now.

So was I.. You know Jurassic Park follows another close pattern to another classic movie with a man vsing a creature.. Jaws.. What happened with both of these franchises? Well we had two instant classics at the first released.. Followed by a mediocre to ok sequel for both, followed by some of the worse movies to release on the silverscreen. There are some movies that do not need sequels because improvements in special effects or other such things are not going to some how give you the better experience..

@sSubZerOo: Yeah, I feel like these series keep going not because the fans think the story is not completely told yet but because after a while we just start missing it and will eat anything we're fed, which is still unfortunate. Not to mention the rumours of JP4 started about a year after JP3, then it got cancelled, then it got revived, then it got stalled, then the guy working on the script died, so they cancelled it again...all that creates hype.

@korvus: I'm not a huge fan of the older ones, I remember watching the original when I was a kid and liking it but it wasn't my favorite or anything... This honestly wasn't on my radar at all, and Chris Pratt being in it actually may have put it on my radar just a lil bit.
