I would say they're more than "Just Bands." My friends and I are "just a band." Those are extremely well known bands who are/were very good at what they do/did.

No, this is from a song called "Thou Shalt Kill", and it lists all these bands that are generally adored by indie people, and seeing as how it was penned by somebody who actually love them anyway, I cannot see this song being an actual criticism of those bands.
