http://www.streem.com.au/world/man-dies-after-tazer-attack-while-waiting-at-airport

1st one is video, 2nd one is the actual story.

So i was flipping through the channels and saw this show on some news channel called Caught on Tape or something and I found this story truly tragic and though I would mention it here.

Basically, a Polish man immigrating to Canada to see his mother for the first time in years flies for ther very first time. But apparently in the airport in Canada there was a special immigration customs thing ghe had to go through. No one there spoke the langauge he did so it took a long time, he was confused and scared and freaking out and wandering around the customs desk for a little while his mother was waiting for longer then she had anticipated. She ended up going home after waiting for hours and her son didnt show up at the time he was supposed to. So he finally gets through hours later and is scared no one is waiting for hima dn doesnt know what to do so he starts acting strange and freaking out, he is surrounded by security and they cant understand him so they taze him and knock him to the ground. (watch the video) He later dies shortly after from the tazings and never gets to see his mother.

Aghh my stomach is still churning from watching this nothing on TV has made me cry before man the goddamn police tazed him when he was already down, he couldnt even speak their language and they should've realized. And no i am not one of those anti-police people but this story is heartbreaking and tragic and so is the video that goes along with it

It is truly sad. What's worse is that the police in question will probably get off with a slap on the wrist or at most probation.

This happened last year It happened in my city of Vancouver too, it was terrible and the public outcry was huge. The bastards still haven't been punished. One of the RCMP officers in the incident though got caught drunk driving.

Yeah. The RCMP have been real dicks lately. But srsly, this was not good for vancouver's rep, coming from a resident from the fraser valley.

Wow, I thought the advantage of tasers was that they are NON-lethal.

Every time I hear about people getting tazed I think the things should be outlawed.

I'm gonna have to agree or at least lower down the voltage on those things theres no reason the tazer needs to make the man flop like a fish in pain like he did in that video, just enough to get them down on the ground.

Wow,that's horrible. Where I live Police Officers have to be tazed before they can carry & use one. Some crazy **** happens in Canada. There was a story about some guy in his early 20's who was killed on a bus for no reason,it was Grayhound or something. Some guy on the bus kept moving from seat to seat, randomly. He ended up sitting next the 20 year old. He was minding his own business, sleeping and listening to his ipod. The guy brutally murders him, stabbing him several times, even after he's dead. Then, cuts off his head and starts waving it around at people and throws his head at them.

Old, and wasn't just the rcmp at fault. Why didn't the mother tell the airport staff of his arrival? why wasn't there any staff in the customs area? why didn't the guy have a polish-to-english dictionary? why didn't the guy have something to eat? and in this post-9/11 world, what did people expect when you cause a disturbance in an airport? police were called because of a disturbance at the airport, found a foreign man who did not speak the language and throwing items, they subdued him.

he was lost and confused and his mother wasnt there waiting for him and no one spoke his language and he had been waiting in the airport for like 14 hours that day going through immigration customs and stuff. I would get a little freaked out if that happened to me.

you are the sickest person i ever met. The mother left because her son didnt arrive on time and the airport said they would call ehr when he arrived. The guy shouldnt have to carryu a dictionary the immigration customs section of the airport should have had translators obviously. How was he supposed to get something to eat he doesnt even know where anything is. And they didnt subdue him they tazed him twice when he was already down, you are sick and twisted.

Sorry but you're just overreacting here, he's not sick or twisted. He's logical. And right. This was very tragic but When I'm lost I don't go aroudn throwing chairs against the glass when there's cops on the other side of it. Atleast not without expecting to get into trouble regardless of what country I'm in.

It is also unreasonable of you to expect an airport immigration service to have translators for every language that exists on the planet. They probably do have translators, but polish aint exactly a world language. And since the guy knew he was going to a country with a language he did not speak you'd think he'd have atleast prepared better. So then he would've known about the immigration process (which I'm sure is information that can be found on the polish flight sites, or at inquired about at the travel agancy. However he booked the flight.)

And they tased him twice on the ground because he was fighting back too much and they could've either broken his arms or smashed him on the head or tazed him. Tazing being considered the least damaging of the bucnh they whent with that. And when I see how the dude was freaking out I'm sure he was having a heart attack or a heart failure and the tazer just pushed it over the edge. Very tragic but there is no way that these cops were the most evil dudes on the planet that just killed a man in cold blood. Saying that is ignorant. They did what they were trained to do and they had no intention of killing the man. It's very tragic and we all wish it would've turned out differently, but I'm just not conivenced the man was killed due to being tazed alone. It makes no sense.

I can't believe people want to ban tazers. Sure their is a very very slight chance that someone may die because of it, but if the tazer is banned what is a cop suppose to do when someone runs at them with a knife, or a baseball bat. Shoot them instead?

The retarded police that do this need to stop getting carried away with their tazer. They need to be freaking taught that no matter how strong or crazy or big they are, a single tazer shot will take them down!!! A tazer is not a god damn toy to be used repeatedly on a man.

Oh no not this again. He was fricking throwing chairs,  monitors and other such things around. I'm not saying they should have tazered him but if you're going to destroy property that isn't yours you can expect to be stopped.

This was at what? 2 in the morning? I forgot but considering Vancouver has quite a small airport, do you expect translators of all languages to be ready at all times?

People are way overreacting over this, they did a year ago and still are. He got unlucky and died from a weapon which has been deemed safe for use by police. I'd say whoever decided tazers are safe is at fault.

This is tragic but what did the guy expect? If I go to Poland and freak out and start throwing chairs around in the airport the same thing would happen. And to those people who want to ban tazers, what else are cops supposed to use? Bill clubs? Guns? Either way the criminal will end up severly injured or dead.

Maybe he felt guilty because he thought it was his fault that the men fell off the ledge (even though he didn't do it on purpose)

It's insane to think that the guys who did this were Security officers, there must be something wrong with them if they think the neccessary thing to do is to Tazer him to death rather than restraining him or doing something that wouldn't put his life at risk...

I hope those security officers are thrown into a psychiatric hospital, it's where they belong.

no oen ran at him with a baseball bat, it was an innocent man lost in a goddamn airport. And they should ban or at least tone down the power of tazers so it only shocks the person enough to knock them down, not send them into shock. There was like a group of cops they could've just tackled him or even just called up a translator but no he did exactly what they said to do put his hands up and he tried to talk to them and they killed him they are goddamn murderers!

He was not fighting back he was writhing in pain from the first tazer blast and 5 cops should've been able to cuff him not be lazy a=holes He died becuase of a multitude of things, he was stressed out from flying, and all the other stuff and not seeing his mother he was very on edge then being tazed doesnt help that at all.

Why didn't the mother tell the airport staff of his arrival? why wasn't there any staff in the customs area? why didn't the guy have a polish-to-english dictionary? why didn't the guy have something to eat? and in this post-9/11 world, what did people expect when you cause a disturbance in an airport? police were called because of a disturbance at the airport, found a foreign man who did not speak the language and throwing items, they subdued him.indian_playa
Yawn because the cops are like little children, they don't know restrain. It's kind of sad how cops have this no train of thought kind of mental attitude.

you are the sickest person i ever met. The mother left because her son didnt arrive on time and the airport said they would call ehr when he arrived. The guy shouldnt have to carryu a dictionary the immigration customs section of the airport should have had translators obviously. How was he supposed to get something to eat he doesnt even know where anything is. And they didnt subdue him they tazed him twice when he was already down, you are sick and twisted.

thats ok, you're they stupidest person i've ever met. You see nothing wrong in going to a foreign country without anyway of communicating with the local people. How bout carrying some food? with airlines charging for food and allowing you to bring your own food, you would think some one would bring some food.

Some one in my family is diabetic. We carry juice boxes, granola bars, chocolate bars, water, and if we can, sandwiches. Even if the no liquids rule is in effect, we still have food and we can ask whoever it is that tells us no liquids where we can get a drink.

And in case you haven't made out by my screen name and icon, I am an Indocanadian immigrant and I do have Brown skin. Because of 9/11 my family and I get screened multiple times at an airport. I go clean shaven, dressed as if I am going for a job interview, and communicate only in english and I still get screened more times than anyone else. If i talk loudly at any of the staff, I will get pulled off of my flight. Do you think the police would use a taser on me if i did what that guy did, or would they go straight for their gun?

The RCMP seems to have bad luck when it comes to tazers. Don't forget to notice the several times they put their knees on the guy's head and chest.

1 - it was his first tiem flying 2 - he didnt know the langauge or where he was 3 - he was in the airport for hours on end 4 - his mother wasnt there Yeah you would be freaked out if all that happened to you and their were ways to communicate with him he wasnt crazy he didnt attack the cops there was like 6 of them. They could've brought in a translator, called his mom, calmed him down, or something but they tazed him even though he did what they said and put his hands up, then they tazed him again while he was down for no reason he wasnt fighting back he was in shock from the pain of being tazed for nor eason and he was stressed out already.

Yeah see, that wouldn't happen to me because I would've actually prepared for the trip.

Wow, I thought the advantage of tasers was that they are NON-lethal.

Every time I hear about people getting tazed I think the things should be outlawed.

UnrighteousFury

I agree, w hatever happened to a strong punch to the jaw?

and no, I am not being sarcastic.

As for the cops, Idunno...its a shame the guy died, but I dont think they handled the situation poorly. I think the victim simply had a bad heart or maybe the taser was defective.
