Everyone I know has this BS idea of kdis being innocent, that they dont know or understand what they are doing when they do wrong. While that may be true for some kids, the majority of kids I know clearly know and understand what they are doing. For example there were some kids who put a cat in an oven a while back, it was posted here, and some people I told about it said that the kids didnt know what they were doing. That is BS, kids are alot more evil and mean than their parents want to believe. You only have to look at how some kids treat the outcasts and the unusual kids at school to see that kids can really be pricks. The parents are of course partly to blame for not explaining what is wrong or right to their kids, instead alot of parents choose to let kids watch and play anything, even if it is violent. THen they act shocked that their kid is violent at school or outside the house. Parents are some of the biggest BS artists around, they are so dedicated to making the government censor everything while they sit back and complain about how violent movies and games are corrupting our youth. Maybe if they did their damn jobs and werent such crap parents, maybe their kids would know the difference between right and wrong or reality and fiction.

End of rant, what do you guys think?

I remember being a kid. I knew when I was being bad. Shoot, if a dog can figure out when it has done wrong, it should be obvious a kid can as well. They just choose to be bad.

Same here.

I also don't think you can blame the parents all the time either. Because when I was being bad, and knew I was being bad, I also knew that I'd be in deep **** if my parents ever found out about it.

Of course kids know what they're doing.

When I was twelve, I was a foulmouthed jackass addicted to masturbation and violence. I knew what I was doing.

Kids are getting worse each and every generation and I blame it on the fact that physical discipline is starting to be treated as child abuse. I thouroughly believe in a good beat down for doing wrong.

Also, one 14 year old girl at my school pretended that a teacher sexually abused her just because she didnt like that she had to do extra work for his class. She even admits it, but now my school lost an awesome teacher:( Just another example of how evil kids can be and how they can abuse their potential power.

Kids are jackasses. We should be able to abort children well into their teens, forget third trimester.

That's pure evil. And the main reason one of my friends decided not to be a teacher is because when he was substituting, a similar thing happened. Luckily, he had adults around him all the time and he was absolved of guilt. But, the fact that it happened made him never want to go back, even though he technically could.

I think that if your parents taught you well enough that you know you're gonna be in deep **** when you act up, then whatever you do is 100% your fault alone.

Any kid who acts bad and then tries not to get caught can't point the finger at bad parenting. If the kids try not to get caught, then they know they're not supposed to be doing whatever it is that they're doing. If they know they're not supposed to do it, then they shouldn't be doing it.

its not that kids dont know what they are doing, its just that their inexperience and immaturity makes it seem like what they are doing isnt bad.

Problem is, when a kid says an adult did something sexual to her it is very hard for the adult to argue against that. Also, this is the kind of girl who dresses like a complete slut, but isnt actually a slut. She also complains about boys giving her looks, even though she is clearly inviting sexual attention from boys around her.

Well, for my friend, it was a 5th grader, so it was easier to prove wrong, I think. Though, that made it a more vile accusation.

Yeah I have seen alot of parents like that. For me, I decided to do what I want when I knew I was old enough, say 11-12? I knew I was responsible enought to do most things. Not like driving though. :P

I did say alot of "I's" then..

You are very good at finding evil, and remembering the few that are.

Maybe you should hunt for good, and commit random acts of kindness....

Innocence is not a matter of action but of understanding.

Many people care capable of action without fully understanding what is influencing them. It's called impulse. A child is much more likely to to be impulsive they an adult. But both are still capable of being impulsive regardless of age. The bottom line is that human perception is limited. You may think you know why you're doing something, or that's is a bad action, but your understanding of it is completely biased towards the culture you're familiar with.

Period. It doesn't make them evil, it doesn't make them stupid. It just means they have noy fully psychological developed until sometime after puberty. It's a fact.

I was four years old. I found spray paint in th garage, me and my brother proceeded to spray paint the side of the garage, fence, and then my cousins face. Not for a second did we stop to consider what we doing to be wrong. It was just fun. As you get older your understanding of these concepts do change.

I'm sorry, but just can't buy what you perceive as innocence. As far as people putting cats in microwaves that's sociopath behavior and is a very big deal.

I am 24 years old. I look back on my life and many times I see where my thinking was flawed, and if I had more experience in life I may have seen and done something differently. This is natural human progression. You do not start out will all the tools and experiences to make quality decisions. You may believe you do, but you do not. You gain them over a life time. It's not regret. I look back on my life and see where I could have done things differently or reflect on how my way of thinking was immature and self.

Even now I sit here writing this knowing at 40 my way of thinking will be more refined, clearer, and more in-line with who I really am. For people that don't ever experience this.. then you stopped learning when you were a kid, and that's sad.

Yes, children are innocent. They do not have the experience or background in life to make decisions at the same level of adults. That doesn't make them stupid or unaware. It just means they cannot fully comprehend the entire experience because they don't have the tools to do so.

Why a child does something and an adult does something are often entirely different. An adult has the experience with life to approach situations at a much different level. Though, it's a shame some people really never grow up. And I feel bad for them because their perception will always be that of a childs. Even if they have a physically mature body.

If you never believed you've done something dumb because you didn't have the knoweldge, or tools before hand.. then I really question if you ever gained anything out of life.

What the **** are you talking about? No one is saying that kids don't occasionally do stupid things because they're young and lack experience. The point is that a lot of kids are just plain bad. It has nothing to do with them not understanding the consequences or having a limited perspective. It's about them knowing right from wrong and then choosing to be bad just because they feel like it. That's evil, and that's all there is to it.

They are innocent beings, regardless. If anyone is to blame, it's the parents that didn't raise them right.

Yes kids are cruel but they grow out of it. I have watched violent movies my whole life, never had any limits like that but I'm not cruel or I do make difference between reality and fiction pretty well. I think it depends on person.

Their parents DID raise them right, that's how the kids know that they're being bad. :|

By your logic, nothing is ever anyone's fault. Saddam Hussein wasn't bad, it was his parents' fault for not raising him right. And it wasn't his parents' fault for not raising him right, it was it grandparents' fault for being bad parents to Saddam Hussein's parents.

Really, let's not be ridiculous. There's no magical age where kids suddenly learn right from wrong. If you do bad **** and don't know that it's bad, that's innocence. If you do bad **** and KNOW that it's bad, that's evil. Age is irrelevant.

I agree 100%. Most kids that live around here actually smoke..aaronmullan

Yeah, same here. It seems like a disconcertingly common problem. And yes, I agree with TC. Kids are in no way ignorantly (Well that's what some people make out) innnocent.
