Reyna Mason says that on February 22, 2008, while sitting in a booth near an air hockey table at Chuck E. Cheese, she was struck in the head by a hockey puck.

The complaint states that the defendant was negligent when it, among other things, "failed to warn [Mason] of the danger posed to her by sitting in a booth near the air hockey table" and "failed to have adequate safety precautions in place for those sitting in booths near the air hockey table."Excerpt

Obviously, air hockey pucks should be bolted down.

Air hockey should be banned. Along with pool, darts, foosball, etc. Too dangerous. In fact, people should have no ability to have an recreational activities unless 12 pages of informed consent are signed.

I'm waiting for "Person catches cold from door knob, sues".

While I am sure being hit in the head with a air hockey puck sucks, she should just grow up. People sue for everything these days. Unless she was seriously injured she should just shut up. We could put a stop to most of this crap with loser-pays and a punitive damage cap, but the slip-and-fall attorney lobby has too much influence with our elected officials.

There are already laws like that. I've heard of cases before where a judge declared that a civil suit was too ridiculous to go to trial and actually fined/penalized the plantiff for filing a frivilous suit. Also, as far as I know all civil cases in the US work with a "loser pays for everything" system wherein whoever loses also has to pay for court fees, the other person's attorney fees, and their own attorny fees. It's just that most idiots who file these suits are unaware of these things and their ambulance chaser lawyers aren't about to tell them that.
