Depends on how you define LARP. If people that do Civil War reenactments are engaging in LARP, then I don't see any problem with that. The dudes that run around with swords and shields and hack at each other to play Dungeons and Dragons or whatever, though - that's just kind of sad.
Oh... I was way off. I imagine if you're really into Renaissance Festivals and such this would be a lot of fun. I would never admit to anyone outside that circle that I participate, but.

My neighbour's 14 year old son is into this LARP malarkey and recently went on a LARP summer camp, wielding swords and all that. Nothing much wrong with it in my book, as long as he drops it before he hits uni.
I don't think it's any more or less strange than many of the things people do related to sports fandom. It's definitely not my thing though. Outside of video games, I don't like roleplaying games in general. I like my "games" to actually have concrete goals and rules, not just be a half-baked excuse for older people to play make believe.
An of course there are the usual YouTube comments from people that somehow can't comprehend that the video is a joke...and those people think the people in the video are dumb. Ah, irony.

I just watched that and I cannot even believe that they are seriously doing... that when they have spare time.
Extremely embarrassing.. I play Dungeons and Dragons on occassion with friends, and I honestly want to smack any one who find out that I do that thinking I actually larp.. I don't its a fun thing I do once every two weeks on a table top.. Larping is a entirely whole different league of anything I have ever seen.
