My parents are becoming insanely annoying. I feel that they act like idiots and are always bugging me whenever they see me talking to a girl. I'm 19 and plan on moving out around next year and finding a roommate. I also plan on never seeing or talking to my family ever again, because I see no reason to. I could just hang with friends only.

Will there be hard disadvantages of this? Could I eventually later become a bum/hobo in the street?

You should move out and live on Cheese and Cereal. It won't be hard.

Acting like idiots and constantly bugging you seem to be pretty weak reasons for never seeing your parents again to be honest TC. All parents are like that.

The disadvantages? You'll be abandoning the love they have given you over the past 19 years. You'll crush them if you cut off all ties with them. They may be annoying, but they love you, and I'm sure you love them too. And you'll need help raising a child and buying a house and things of that nature.

I'll rent an apartment and I don't want to have any kids in the future.

You have some unresolved issues I think. Solve them before you move out is what I suggest.

And? Do you really want to never see them again? You'll feel guilty as hell when they die or if something happens to them. And to be honest, their acting like idiots and constantly bugging you are pretty weak reasons for never seeing them again..

This, leaving your parents for good would be a very regrettable thing.

Let me explain more, If I let them know that I'm dating a girl, they'll be constantly up my butt to make sure I don't knock her up.

Elaborating more on your points, they seem a little less helpful and more negative. But maybe you have given the impression of immaturity with decisions as they've seen recently which has made them be like that? I don't know.. But i wouldn't disown them, they have raised you.. and they sound like small problems, count yourself lucky

Dude, you're 19. You are not 10. You act like you will get in trouble if you have a gf.

Are you serious? They raise you for 19 years and that's how you're going to repay them? You sound like a 10 year old who wants to run away from home. Have you tried just talking to your parents?

It's not any immaturity I have. I barely talk at home and they have a problem with it. I just don't want to talk with them most of the time. If they find out I have a gf, they get all suspicious and bs starts and gets me so embarassed. They're only trying to save themselves the embarassment if I knocked up a chick.

Never knew my dad because he was an anonymous one-night stand, mom kicked me out when I was 18 and never really gave a damn about me anyway. I envy anyone who has parents that actually care about them, including the topic creator.

Ouch that must have been a harsh upbringing :( On topic, I can never see myself cutting ties to my parents completely, even after I graduate, get a job, settle down, etc. I love them too much and despite going some really, really rough patches with them, I don't think I would be able to do what you want to TC (never speak to them again and pretend I will be able to survive just fine without their help and assistance).

You'll regret it down the line. It may seem like now they're only goal in life is to make you miserable but give it a couple years and you'll realize that they love you very much and are just looking out for you.

You'll miss those idiots after you've dropped a big deuce and there's no toilet paper. You'll miss those idiots when you don't remember to buy things like coffee filters, dryer sheets, salt, or bandaids. But to be honest if you were my kid and you were as ungrateful as you're acting towards them, I would tell you to get the hell out and to go **** yourself if free rent, free food, free utilities, tv, internet, phone and laundry weren't good enough for you. Wise up, your landlord is going to be just as "annoying" about visitors, any dent, scratch, scrape or stain. At least your parents won't evict you if you accidentally put a hole in the wall, and charge you an arm and a leg to fix it.

You should never cut ties with the people that love you. It doesn't matter if you find them annoying. Your parents love you and just want the best for you. Trying to get away from them forever just because they might be a bit overbearing or annoying is just plain...can't say the rest. I would probably get modded.

It's just not a good idea.

Whoa whoa whoa.

Big guy!

Slow down...just eat a ham sandwhich, drink some soda, and have a nice warm bath and all your worries will disappear...

I guess you could do that if you lived on your own, though.....but you'd have to pay for the bread..and ...meat..and condiments...and soda....and bath....

If you were a hobo it'd be a half eaten drum stick with a band-aid on it....some gasoline....and a dumpster.

Option #1 is a good choice.

Never seeing or talking to them again? thats cold dude... :|

There's the possibility that anyone could end up broke and become homeless, but if you're responsible with money and know how to hold a job down I doubt that'll happen to you. Remember the immortal words of with great power comes great responsibility? essentially thats what its all about xD!

You can burn your bridges down if you want? Sounds like they are annoying so you will go away. They already know what you will do before you do it. So it's just a matter of figuring out a way to convince to do it, without you being aware of it. They aren't kicking you out if you CHOOSE to move out.

this is such an immature, insensitive, infuriating and naive thing to say tc. don't be ridiculous.

as someone with more patience than me said, all parents are like that and you'd be throwing all the love they've given you back in their faces. grow up

I moved out at 18 and never looked back (have been self-sufficient ever since). I still speak to my parents once every few months though when they call (so not completely cut-off like what you are saying). But taking care of yourself only (assuming you don't have a kid) is not that hard.

On topic:

you never take the advice given to heart, TC. What can we possibly say that's going to mean anything to your situation? You're just venting your infantile musings per usual.
