In many cultures, people don't use toilet paper. They wipe their ass with their left hand and a bucket of water.

Something like, at least in certain cultures, it's customary to wipe your ass with your left hand, so shaking someone's hand with your left hand would then be rude. at least that's what I've heard.
[QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"]That is fine for them, but no one does that in civilized parts of the world.I do it.In many cultures, people don't use toilet paper. They wipe their ass with their left hand and a bucket of water.

That is fine for them, but no one does that in civilized parts of the world.I do it. You have also made it clear that you are opposed to the right to live and to freedom of association, so I would not consider you part of the civilized world.[QUOTE="Laihendi"][QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"]

If I remember reading originally people would shake below the brachioradialis muscle, but slightly above the wrist flexor as a means to prevent sickness and disease. We through that out the window I guess over the years.

Would that change anything?[QUOTE="Laihendi"] That is fine for them, but no one does that in civilized parts of the world.Laihendi
No one would get offended, only an idiot would get offended by a foreign not knowing the customary norms.
I really hope Japan doesn't blog in rage every time a foreign leader meets their prime minister/president and doesn't bow correctly.

I think that not wiping your bare hand in poop is a sign of being civilized. you could always wash your hands afterwards. using water results in a way cleaner ass and leaves no smell. once you use it, you'll never get back to toilet papers. [QUOTE="VaguelyTagged"][QUOTE="Laihendi"] That is fine for them, but no one does that in civilized parts of the world.Laihendi

lolI use my right hand to wipe my ass, pick my nose, wank hold over my mouth when I cough or sneeze. I use my left hand to hold the telephone. I would never, however, use my left to shake someone's hand. That's just rude.

Been doing alot of Physics lately.

It's great when you realize that you screwed up which hand to use but also screwed up the sign of the charge you were working with so it ended up being right again :P
I think it's weird. Usually people shake with their right hand. When someone throws out there left hand, I'm all, "Dude! What the hell you be doin'?" And they're all, "What? If you don't like how I shake hands, there's the door!"ShaineTheNerdstop
Isn't it just that the majority of people is right handed, hence feeling more comfortable shaking the right hand? Shaking hands is a symbol of welcoming and agreement. Forcing someone into the slightly uncomfortable act of doing it with the left hand goes against that meaning, so it is considered rude.ReptylusTechnically yes, but the ass hand is still a factor. The whole reason why the left hand is the ass hand is because most people are right-handed. It's certainly likely that extending the left hand would still be rude even if it hadn't been designated as the ass hand.

Both toilet paper and bare hands is for poor people. Sophisticated people use baby wipes. [QUOTE="br0kenrabbit"]That is fine for them, but no one does that in civilized parts of the world. I saw a video of a toilet that sprays your bum with water to clean you. Uncivilized? In many cultures, people don't use toilet paper. They wipe their ass with their left hand and a bucket of water.

Society is not logical, shaking with your right hand should be considered rude. Most people (as most are right handed) do things with their right hand , from masturbating wiping, opening doors, blowing their nose, scratching any itches near the nether regions, pushing elevator buttons... the list goes on. The right hand seems like it would be much dirtier than the left.

IM SOPHISTICATED!?!?!?!?
I have been using baby wipes for years. Things are cheap and leave my ass silky smooth. Â If I ever go to prison, whoever's b-tch I become is going to be one happy guy.
People in South Korea were raging recently at the way Bill Gates shook the prime minster's hand.ÂNo one would get offended, only an idiot would get offended by a foreign not knowing the customary norms.

I really did not realize I was supposed to use my hand for scratching my nose and all that. I kinda feel like a jerk now. I was never taught to use my hand for that stuff. Probably because I'm from a little hick town and no one gives a darn.It is complete rude because the majority of people are right handed and therefore use their right hand to interact with the rest of the world. Their left hand is for personal reasons i.e. itching the nose or mouth.
