What would happen if someone under 21 were to get drunk in one country or on a flight and come back to the US before the alcohol left their system? Would they get in trouble?

They probably won't care and just wait until the alchohol leaves the system. But the alcohol should've gone by the time you arrive. If you get really drunk before, then I don't think they will let you on the plane.

I would hate to live in America. Here in England the legal drinking age is 6 but you have to be 18 to buy alcohol, so you can't be arrested for underage drinking but you can get it confiscated by the police if they see you in public with it.

Drunk driving? Public Intoxication? You can be arrested for either of those even if you're of age.

Neither of those apply to TC's scenario.

Public intoxication is against the law (in the US at least).

Wow..damn. I hope everyone is being responsible with this. Or is this one of those laws that nobody knows about? Maybe it's allowed in my country (NL) too and I never knew about it..

No parent is going to give their 5 year old a bottle of vodka. If they did social services would get involved.

Public drunkenness laws tend to be based on being drunk and disorderly, just having a lot of alcohol in your blood won't get you arrested

Yeah, makes sense obviously. And lol, actually there was no legal drinking age here before june of this year. I remember now that I heard this on the news.. that they passed that law, but I didn't pay attention to it. :P
