Let's Talk Anime?

So, I just watched my first anime...

Princess Jellyfish :D What I liked about Princess Jellyfish was how funny it was and how I could relate to the main character ^_^; It was kind of absurd and had this crossdresser who fell in love with this girl and there was a love triangle and and and it was just cute

It was good but there was only 11 episodes, it was discontinued...

I'm wondering if any of you could share what animes you've watched and summarize them/tell me their genres (comedy/dramatic/mainly romane/etc)? I want to get into watching more.

I looked up Princesss Jellyfish and it sounds funny. If you like romantic, slice of life comedies like that then I'd reccomend:

Toradora: Centers around 5 interesting and kind of strange high school students. It is your typical slice of life/romantic comedy in some ways and you can already tell who's going to end up with who before even finishing the show, but I liked the weird characters in this one.

Paradise kiss: A dutiful and studious female student gets caught up with a group of amatuer fashion designers, eventually becoming their model, though acting snobbish towards them at first. Again, sounds a little typical, but the characters are great. Never actually finished this but it was good from what I had seen.

Eden of the East:Sort of slice of life with a supernatural element. While visiting The White House, Saki Morimi runs into a strange man who is completley naked, holding only a gun and a cellphone and has no memories of his past. The phone has 8.2 billion yen in it and allows him to do pretty much anything. Hilarity and action ensues. Honestly the ending to this anime sucked, but it wasn't that bad.

As for my personal reccomendations:

Code Geass, Mirai Nikki, Elfen Lied, Ranma 1/2 (all action/drama anime), and The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (slice of life with a little supernatural). You can look up descriptions on Wikipedia, I'm no good at summaries. Have fun.

Le Chevalier D'eon is my favorite anime. If you feel like watching a suspenseful, supernatural, mystery anime, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's about a french spy whom is investigating the bizarre murders of young women, the investigation leads him on to greater intrigue. It's very loosely based on the historical figure D'eon de Beaumont.

Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki films are wonderful and you don't need to be an anime fan to enjoy them.

Bible Black is porn, don't listen to them.

Currently watching Zetsuen No Tempest... it's pretty good so far. For a beginner Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is a good anime to start if you want action plus solid secondary characters.

Hajime no ippo is my favorite anime. It's a sports series, boxing specifically, the fights are pretty cool but it isn't really focused on the actual boxing but on the main character growing so most of it is about him training and making friends and trying to get this girl to notice him. The music is awesome, the characters are good, most the fights aren't always bad guy vs. good guy but every character has their own story and reason for fighting which makes the matches more interesting. Also there isn't only a focus on the main character as the side characters get their time in the spotlight which is cool.

This is all based on the 76 episode first run, and the 2 ovas or movies. The manga is slow as fvck and the other anime has better animation but the music is worse and it's a weird section of story to start up again as the first run is a good ending point but the second run ends with you knowing there should be more but there is none and I don't know if they are making more.

edit: Also the humor is more jock humor, I think it's one of the more humorous animes I've seen.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (film), Great Teacher Onizuka, or Azumanga Daioh might be your cup of tea

I enjoyed my time with Steins Gate.

Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Pokemon, Bleach. Those are my faves.

There is no dub for Toradora. NIS America only released it subtitled. You can watch it on Hulu you know. You have to sit through a few commercials but its high quality, legal, official subs. Steins;gate is on there too.

i am currently watching One Piece japanese subbed, i really cant believe how this is like the big anime here in japan everytime i go to okinawa i see One Piece everywhere and half naked Nami figurines haha
