I'm a bit of liberal and a bit of conservative.

I'm against gays but for killing babies.

I hope you brought a high quality flame shield with you

their policies on what? economy? abortion? death penalty? environmental isses? human rights issues? be more specific.

and believe me it is just as hard for liberals to understand the way a conservative thinks. (i try at least) i think the way i do because i want to make the world better. i am not much for the status quo and think changes need to be made to better our lives and the lives of future generations

doesnt bother me, i tend to disregard people who think and act like that. what id really like is some insight into the thinking behind liberals, conservatives. etc

the flamers will get nothing but a reflaming if i can stay up and interested long enough

Hahaha. even though I know you are being sarcastic, I'll address your post anyway.

I don't like land rovers purely because they are four wheel drive overkill, they take all the skill involved with four wheel driving out of the drivers hands.

Yeah, but I'm an Australian country person lol, not an American one. There is less ofa religious influence out in the country over here.

ok then

economy- a little conservative and liberal. i am for the government spending money on useful things, like education, healthcare and such, but the war budgets of countries terrify me, i wish we could get past that.

abortion- pro-choice. people have the right to say what happens to their own bodies. though i so draw the line at late-term abortions, that is too close to infanticide.

death penalty- i am against since it is not much of a deterrent and more money is spent trying to put people to death than it costs to keep them locked in jail for life. too much inequity when it comes to the death penalty to make it worthwhile IMO

environmental issues- we really need to get our act together with the environment. we need to realize the consequences of our actions have and take steps to minimize our impact. fixing enviromental problems will help ease other problems we face.

human rights- this should be a non-partisan issue, but oftentimes it is not. people should not be tortured for information, locked up for years without due process. we have treaties against that kind of thing. and we need to realize we are all human.

i wish politics wasn't so bi-partisan and liberal vs conservative. such a debate gets us nowhere and no better than before. but people will always have differing opinions, which is what makes us human, our ability to question what we know, so i don't really have anything against that. *shrugs* not sure if this is on topic anymore. oh wells

in my opinion liberals policies are the wrong route to go, like government health care... terrible idea if the governemnt ran the health care A. we would all have the same crappy health care and B. when anything went wrong instead of scolding the insurance companies we would just scold the government and C. Micheal Moore would make a movie complaining about it.

Government health care doesn't mean there is no private health care at all.

we have government health care in Australia and it is great, I also have private health care though, so I'm covered on all fronts.

Here are some "liberal policies" and how I feel about them. I'll also justify my beliefs.

War on Drugs = crap. End it immediately. This is a "liberal stance." All drugs should be legalized and available for anyone who wants them at any time. Under the current system "drug money is used to train brutal corporate-sponsored dictators around the world." It's billions of dollars that are funding "secret wars" that aren't important enough to inform the public about. The CIA is the leading importer of drugs in the US. If you think I'm joking look it up.

Homosexuals = perfectly natural. They should be treated as humans rather than statistics. If they want to get married and have a family that is their god-given right. Every species of animal has homosexual animals. It's not a choice that people make, it's just who they are. What if the shoe were on the other foot and heterosexuals were told they can't marry and have kids? You would know in your heart that what you feel is right, even though people are telling you that some invisible man in the sky is watching over you and is going to send you to hell if you kiss another man.

Abortion = necessary evil. I'm against it and I wouldn't have it done to my child, but I am completely against anyone telling somebody what to do with her life or her body. The world doesn't exactly need more people and if anyone is irresponsbile enough to become pregnant without wanting to be, there is a very good chance that she is too irresponsible to watch after a child. We don't need the cycle perpetuated.

Religion = fairy tales used to control peoples' lives. We should do everything we can to remove religion from society. The world is doomed if we continue with it.

I am an extremely liberal person when it comes to social issues but a radical conservative when it comes to the economy and government. I'm a libertarian :)

I am gay I'm pro choice, against the death penalty, against the Iraq war, against the Patriot Act, generally in favor of taxes, for reducing the dependence on foreign oil so I support liberals on most issues

Edit: To clarify on the taxes point, I would rather the government spend less and thus have lower taxes, but if the government is going to continue spending like it is I feel that taxes are necesary to stop increasing the $9 trillion debt of the U.S. So I would ideally want to be a social liberal / economic conservative (libertarian) but unless Ron Paul gets the republican nomination I will continue to support the democrats.

Health care shouldn't be free, it ends up rubish when it is

The war budget should be cut and so should the size of the armed forces and replaced with high tech defence and a small offensive force

i'm pro choice and pro gay

Taxes should be cut

the dole should be cut to a near survival amount (cheap health insurance provided though)
