http://www.mujahideenryder.net/2008/05/11/lil-wayne-praises-allah-in-a-millie-islam-muslim/

Lil Wayne says "and the almighty power of Allah" in the song "A Millie" featured on one of his songs from one of his mixtapes. It is also strange how the radio versions of the song replaces "Allah" with "dat chit cha cha cha chopper". The song was so popular that it was added to his new album coming out "C3″ and guess what, the album version also replaces "Allah" with "dat chit cha cha cha chopper".

Most of you probably may not know, but Lil Wayne is probably the number 1 rapper in the Hip Hop world right now. Imagine the thousands of people who will hear "and the almighty power of Allah". I'm sure you've seen people on the subway or buses rapping or singing along to the songs from their iPods. They may be unconsciously saying "and the almighty power of Allah". Now most of you probably are like, so what? Who cares if some non-Muslim rapper mentions "Allah" in his rhyme. Well if you don't care that's fine, but I find this interesting how Islam appears in some form in the most unusual of places. You never know if one person might be like "Why is Lil Wayne saying 'almighty power of Allah' in his song?". Then that person may do some research, find some Muslims and strike up a conversation on Allah. Only Allah knows what his plan was when he willed it for His name to be mentioned in such a song.

A lot of rappers are, or used to be, casually familiar with Nation of Islam and 5% Nation teachings. These are not official Muslim sects however.

I agree that is freekin messed up though. Islamophobia in effect.

Uh. I think controversy caused by this is going to cause more damage than the lyrics themselves... Even if they aren't there anymore.

Isn't Allah just interchangeable with God? For we know Lil Wayne could be a devote christian/jew/muslim because all are monotheistic and believe in a "god". To be honest I don't care what religion Lil Wayne follows, he can believe anything he wants, and rap about anything he wants. It's the very basis of America.

As a Muslim myself, I think it's annoying when rappers (or anyone for that matter) use Islamic imagery but mess it up in the process....5 percenters are especially guilty of this. I'm not talking about people like Lupe Fiasco or Chamillionaire who are actually Muslim.

Also, Allah is just the Arabic word for God, Christian Arabs use it too.

If they are Muslim, probably just believe in Allah, Mohammed, the Pillars of Islam and all that jazz. Lol, and you should have turned to the guy that ran into your church and remided him that he was the one bursting into churches screaming crap.

It's just a reference to the 5% popularity in rap. Most of the greatest rappers talked about 5% teachings wether they were 5%ers or not, so that line is also a reference to the hip hop greats. There's no way Lil Wayne is Muslim considering how he acts.

It's not as unusual as you think. It's pretty common in hip hop.

Alot of rappers are religious its not like this is something new. Lupe Fiasco is a muslim along with Ice Cube and there are several more rappers that are religious. As the poster above said its pretty common within hip hop.

This is very funny.

It's not the fact that he says 'allah' in a song, it's the fact that the media owns the people so much that as soon as you hear somebody mention Allah, there linked to terrorism, or a negative image is portrayed on them.

Islam is a peaceful religion, and it's a shame that a few extremists drag it down.

I'm speaking from a christian upbringing and an Atheist view.

Lupe Fiasco is also Muslim. He praises God (Allah) all the time in his albums... ie: Little Soldier, in which after he gets done talking about little children being used as weapons, he repeated the Arabic phrase: "astaghfar allah" multiple times. Which translated to "God's help and forgiveness".

He also has a track entitled "Muhammed (pbuh) Walks", which is a remix of "Jesus Walks" by Kanye

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSIkgRLdWYQ

Lupe, Mos Def, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, a few of the WuTang members, all of Tribe Called Quest... lots.

The most obvious response to this thread also turns out to be somewhat ironic:

He certainly isn't the best Islamic rapper out there. Vinnie Paz and Ghostface Killah are on another level.

BTW, Allah is the arabic word for "The One God". It is derived from "Al- Ilah". "Al" for one and "Ilah" for God.
