Are they any good live?

The reason i ask is because i'm going to Rock im Park this year and they are one of the headliners along with Metallica (HELL YES !! :) ) and a german band.

I love Hybrid Theory & Meteora to death but totaly hate their new stuff. Are they still playing songs from HT & Meteora?

I doubt it. But my opinion may be colored by the fact that I think they suck. So you might want to take that view with a grain of salt. :p

Linkin Park used to be my favorite band. Hybrid Theory & Meteora was my favorite albums, the new stuff took me a while to get used too, but I eventually got to liking it allot. I've seen videos of them live, and IMO. They are pretty good. But I don't know about the question if they still play HT & M live... Probably so.

Here's a Festival setlist they played in 2011:

Linkin Park covering Rolling in the Deep sounds like it would be the worst thing

Linkin Park is one of the better live bands around now. I saw them in Tampa a few years ago. They put on a hell of a good show.

Having them and Metallica on the same bill makes it a must see show.

Judging from live clips and songs I've heard, they're a fairly good live band... Chester is a pretty good vocalist since not many people can hit high notes like he can (one example being Mike Patton)... On the downside it is awkward hearing a 35-year old man singing about "bleeding it out just to throw it away," but thats just me...

I know i'm not going to get a Muse like live show. I just hope they gonna play some gems of their first album (By Myself, Papercut, Points of Authority for ex.)... the setlist JML posted kinda crushed it tho... :P

Personally I think Linkin Park has taken a nose dive with there music now..:(chilly-chill
Lol no. Their last album is actually one of their best. Cataclyst, Waiting For The End, Burning In The Skies, Iridiscent, New Divide, just to name a few, are all great songs.

I listen to many Nu-Metal and Rap-Rock bands and believe me, Hybrid Theort and Meteora are nothing new to the scene. Don't get me wrong I like those albums a lot, but I like more the new direction LP's music is taking.

And Mike Shinoda is probably the most talented member of Linkin Park. Sure Chester is great and has an amazing voice but i bet more than half of LP songs come from Mike ideas.

At least LP is trying to experiment with new sounds rather than stick with the same, obnoxious, sound (*cough Limp Bizkit cough*)... At least they are still catchy and memorable like their nu-metal days

Huh you have a strange sense of humor.

Good metal band? Good lord there's too many to name. And a nu metal band isn't part of that list.

But to name a few good metal bands that I've been listening to lately:

Dio, Whiplash and Blind Guardian.

Nonpoint (at least their earlier work) are pretty great for a nu-metal band... The vocalist can actually sing and doesn't come off as whiny or immature, the guitarist plays some crunchy, memorable riffs (pretty advanced for nu-metal), the bassist and drummer are pretty decent.

Deftones are also pretty good if you consider them nu-metal

Deftones' debut album Adrenaline is nu/alternative metal. I think Coal Chamber puts out good nu metal, too.

Possibly the worst live band I have had the misfortune of hearing live. They were at the same BDO as Rammstein - it was like the organisers said "We need the worst live band to make the best one sound that much better".

I like Linkin Parks older stuff but their new albums were really quite bad, that being sad I saw them live last year and was glad that they mostly played songs from Hybrid Theory and Meteora with the exception of one or two songs from recent albums so it was pretty decent :)
